Palm Centro I've only had my palm since the end of Nov and now it won't power up. The red light shows when it's hooked up to the AC adapter, but when removed, there is no light, there is nothing. Whats the warranty on this?

If you hold down the end button for a few seconds it will be ok. That's the stand by mode.

I am having the same problem. Mine Red Centro tried to hotsync, turned off, and will not turn on. This is the second time. The first time a soft reset fixed the problem now nothing seems to be working. The little red light when you plug it in turns on, my computer recognizes it but the Centro itself is not doing anything.....Have only had it for a couple of months. HELP!!!!

  • zippersabrat Jul 14, 2008

Mine is the black one from Sprint..same problem. Nothing seems to make it turn on. It worked fine earlier in the day then when I called voice mail I could only hear via speaker. I returned the call but could only listen via speaker and the other party could not hear me at all. I took out the battery and it went into a loop of trying to hotsync (sans cable). I was able to get it to hotsync and then it started working. The only issue at that time was that the circle Palm button did not work so I pulled the battery again. Now it is been off for 6.5 hours and nothing works. The charging light comes on when it is plugged in but the USB cable does nothing and the screen remains black.

  • Anonymous Mar 22, 2009

palm centro (sprint) forcing hotsync even when not plugged into a pc. It keeps trying to hotsync and wont let me do anything else. It ONLY works when actually hotsynced which means my phone is on a leash.

sometimes it wont even turn back on if turned off no matter what i do. argh! Sprint said it was water damage. i dont think so.

my centro kept trying to hook up to hotsync and when i got it off of that screen, the keypad wouldn't work but the touchscreen would so i took out the battery and put it back in and now it won't turn on at all. when plugged into the charger, it shows the red light but it still has yet to turn green. when i plug it into the computer, the computer doesn't register it as being plugged in. this is like my 3rd replacement phone and i'm getting a little sick of it...

My daughter's phone had the same issue of the red charging light remaining on constantly and the phone not booting up....

I something similar happen to a PSP console too.

If you have a Sandisk or other type of expandable data card in the phone... remove it.

Remove the battery for about a minute and put the batter back in...

The data card is probably corrupt and needs to be reformatted.

I did this and the phone booted with no problems.

Just like my PSP.

Hope this Helps....

The red light is usually on because ur "phone" is off but the "device" is on, u have to hold down the power button to turn the "phone" back on also u cannot turn the device completely off unless fully dead or battery is out

Alright, this isnt a solution, but a question, Ive taken my battery out all night and put it back in and still onlt the red light turns on, nothig else.
Ive also tryed a different battery.
I have having a problem where it kept trying to sinc with the computer and wouddnt let me do anything else, I took thebattery out and put it back in and nothing would turn on, did it a few more times, and it finally did.
It worked normal for awhile then it stopped letting me use everything except the touchscreen.
Now, I took the battery out for awhile then thats when I came to the situation Im at now, only the red light turns on.

Mine is the samen, i think.
The red light will stay on forever, and it says that the phone is off, but the devicce is on. I cant make calls, get on internet, or recieve text.
I usually do a soft reset (take the battery out and put it back in. It works for a while then, but then will go back to the phone being "off"

One suggestion I have is if someone can post a link to the original ROM from the carrier - Sprint, ATT, Verizon. then I would suggest flashing the ROM since it seems like a software issue. I was able to flash my ROM with the updade (1.7) provided by Sprint. It took me a while since my centro only turned on a few times when it reset, but with the update it still did the same force hotsync issue.

I think if I was able to install a new ROM completely, like reinstalling Windows for PC it might work fine.

How do I increase the signal strength of my Palm Centro?

The bars show relative signal strength.

If the Motorola is on the same provider, it is the Palm smartphone that is the fault. It may just be you got a less than sensitive one. You should probably contact Palm and see if there is anything they can do short of exchanging it, otherwise exchange it and keep exchanging them until you get one that works. In mass production- these things happen.

If the Motorola is with a different carrier, that may be the difference- they are line of sight devices and the provider you have for the Palm may not have an antenna in your vicinity pointed in the correct direction for you. Which means complaining to the carrier since you know the external antenna works, but the Palm does not.

My PALM Centro will not charge i have it plugged in via USB my AC charger quit working months ago and i threw it away. Therefore i have it plugged in via USB and the LED at the top it green but barley on...

Hello salvidor72,
It's more effective to use a charger than the usb adapter. The wirelessemporium.com web site has a nice deal on a Palm Centro PDA Phone Home/Travel Charger:
http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-16501-Palm-Centro-PDA-Phone-Home-Travel-Charger.asp?refer=bizrate
You may also do a google search for palm centro charger. I hope this helps.

How do i tranfer my contacts from my palm centro & another palm centro?

First, make sure you backup all of your data, including data in any 3rd party apps.
Sync your first Palm Centro with the Palm Desktop software to save the data.
Verify the sync settings in the Palm Desktop software to make sure when you begin syncing with the new Palm Centro, the settings for each application (contacts, calendar, memos, etc.) are one-way sync to the device, or you might end up overwriting the data in your Palm Desktop software with what's on the new Palm Centro.
When you sync your new Palm Centro with the desktop software the first time it will ask you to name the new device. If you give it the same name as the old Palm Centro, all of the data will sync to your new Palm Centro.
Search your computer for a folder with the name "Palm" in it to try and locate the name of your old Palm Centro, so you can name the new Palm Centro the same. When you locate that folder on your computer, it would be a good idea to simply make a copy of that folder as a total backup.

Jim,this shows that the charger and the charging circuit are fine and kicking. Only the battery is debatable. If an old battery then it has gone. even not so old battery could be the culprit. so, replace it.
