I need to know how to set up the security on my Belkin wireless router
I want to now how to Secur my wireless
I NEED THE STEPS ON HOW TO SET UP SECURITY ON MY BELKIN WIRELESS ROUTER.
You can directly connect your computer to the router thorugh the routers "internet" port and then re-run setup. OR you can type the IP address of the router into your address bar (the default is tipically 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and then enter the router username and password (I believe the Belkin default is username:"Admin" password:"Password") in the admin control planel look for a "wireless security" tab. You can then define your wirelss security settings there. Just remember to configre the same settings on all devices that will connect to the router.

Once you've logged into the router (open your browser, and type ONLY this into the Address line, without the quotes: "192.168.2.1). You should get a log in pop-up, "admin" is the username, and the password is left blank (or is sometimes "password"), again without the quotes.
Once logged in, you have a series of menus on the left hand side, Usually large blue lines demark each section, i.e. "Lan Setup", "Internet WAN", and of course the section you are looking for "Wireless". Under each header is listed each of the pages available for that function. For example, under Wireless you'd want the first 2 items: "Channel and SSID" - this is where you set the name of the wireless network; and "Security", which is where you setup whichever one of the Encryption options you want. This Encryption key is the password you will use when connecting wirelessly to the router from a PC.
Hopefully that is enough to get you setup.

Hi there,
Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless
router. DO NOT use a wireless connection, use a cable.
Open your web browser and type the IP address of the router (by default,
the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter.
Click Login on the top of the
page to login to the router. By default
the Password is left blank, click Submit.
Click Security under Wireless menu.
Under Security, Select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bit WEP).
Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination
of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength). You
may also enter a pass phrase and have the router generate a key for you. Example
(0102030405060708090a0b0c)
Apply the
settings.
Please write down the key – You will need it later to configure
your wireless computers with the same key.
Remember to set an admin password before you close down, other vice anyone can access you
router and change the setup and admin password.

Sure the reset button will fix this, because it will reset the router tofactory defaults and erase all personal settings.
The better and easier way is to connect one of your clients/computers to the router via an Ethernet cable, login to your router (The default is http://192.168.2.1), go back to your wireless settings and either write down the key or delete it.
Now connect from another computer and provide the network key when asked for it. Make sure that broadcasting the SSID is enabled in your router, so computers can "see" the network. (Look at page 47 of your manual for details.)
If you don't have a manual, you can download it here.
If you have any more questions or need assistance with any of these steps, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.
