Be sure that you have the AM/PM set properly. They are quite simple to use but this one can get you.

I have a ML44T automatic timer for my outdoor lights which has been working perfectly until now. When the time turns until it gets to the point where it has to trip the switch to turn the lights on it...

The clock motor has gone bad.
There are no replacement clock motors.
To work around, buy cheap plug-in timer, set power pack to override and plug power pack into cheap timer.
Power packs have 5 year limited warranty.

Outdoor lights timer: Intermatic HB851 photo timer with dial. How do I set it for dusk ON then off in 8 hrs.

Intermatic make HB51 timer.

If this is not your timer, then add a comment.
To set for ON at dusk, and off 8 hours later, rotate dial to the number 8.
Timer turns on automatically at dusk.
Timer set to 8 hours will start countdown when timer turns ON > and 8 hours later timer will turn off.

Make sure timer is turned away from lights so photo-eye doesn't receive feedback.
Feedback is when the photo eye gets too much light, and then timer thinks it's dawn, so lights turn off, and a moment later photo eye thinks it's dusk again and lights turn on again.
Feedback from lights will cause timer to reset the 8 hour countdown.
A car pulling in the driveway can cause feedback.
If the timer resets because of feedback, it begins the 8 hour countdown again, so the lights will not turn off until dawn.

You can test timer by putting black tape over photo eye, and then timer will turn on.
Set timer for 2 hours for example and then check if timer turned off 2 hours later.

If timer is not functioning correctly, then timer is defective.

How do I set it and can I use it indoors?

I see nothing in the manual that says 'outdoor use only' EXCEPT timer runs on photoelectric eye.
Timer turns ON automatically at dusk, so if timer is inside, and indoor lights are ON, then timer stays OFF.

Set timer to turn OFF 2 4 6 8 Hours after dusk

I have an intermatic HB51R. when i go to program it to stay on for a certain amount of time it turns the lights off as soon as i switch it away from the on position. Am i doing something wrong?

I don't think it is supposed to be in the "on" position when setting it up.
Turn dial to "off".
Then plug timer into grounded outlet.
Turn dial to 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours to run after dusk.
Plug in your outdoor lights.
Wait until dusk.
Let us know if this works.

Need instructions for setting Globe outdoor timer photocell model one button on/off #16UL/PC-24222

Use the on/off button to cycle through in the following order:

F = off

0 = on

1-9 = Number of hours unit stays on after detecting 15 seconds of low light

R = Random. After detecting low lux for 15 seconds, unit will select random number of hours to stay on. Will repeat randomization cycle in 24 hrs

d = On from dusk til dawn

1.-9. = (number followed by period) On now and will shut off after the indicated number of hours elapses.

Neat little timer. Have fun with it.

Programming the Malibu landscape sensor pack. Model # : 8100-9100

it is an adjustable photosensor system. you will need to play with it to fine tune the settings, but you also need to keep in mind that photo sensor react to everything around them, shade can cause it to think the sun is going down, a cloudy day will cause it to stay on, or to come on. if you are looking for away to set it, to only come on when the sun is going to go down, and to turn off when the sun starts to rise, it might actually be easier for you, to get a time programmed timer for you lighting.

Lights continue to go off

Maybe the lights are causing photoelectric eye to sense that it's no longer dark.
This is called feedback.
To check this, set timer for 2 hours.
Put black tape over photoeye.
Check if timer turns on-and-off.

If timer continues to blink, then timer is suspect. Return it for another one.
If feedback is causing the problem, then turn timer away from lights or place obstruction between timer and lights.
