Yes I have same problem. Went to turn self cleaning on and I cannot get the oven open. I have reset the breaker, unpluged it and hit control lock and cancel, and I cannot get the lock to release. sure you'll be able to open it but your chicken will be burnt to a crisp. actually, it may not if you just hit cancel right away after starting the self clean feature.
IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com The only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock. IF the self clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the oven to cool down before the lock can un-lock (safety feature). Good luck with this!!
When I turn on my Maytag performa using the "bake" function, everything looks ok on the display, however the temp. never rises above 100. I've tried "bake" and "convect", and neither one work. "Clean" doesn't work either. The oven will lock, and display shows that it's heating up, but temp. never rises. However....."broil" feature works just fine. Please help.
Never ever use the self cleaning feature. It is there to make your life a little easier, but it also damages elements, door locks and control boards. The heat is just too aggressive. We see it here VERY often. It is a great way for the appliance makers to earn income in spares. Use the traditional method, spray walls, base and racks in the oven with Easy Off - No Odor Foam, and put a large roasting pan of boiling water in the middle shelf (this prevents the spray drying off). Leave overnight, and wash off in the morning.
