There is a small hole on the tomtom device base. Inside it there is a reset button.
Press it and turn device on.
Try to turn it on while connected to the electricity, if it is a battery problem it should work
If it doesn't work I suggest you to bring it to a tomtom support center.
To reset your ONE XL, use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button. The reset button is next to the memory card slot, on the bottom of your ONE XL. Then turn your ONE XL on.

I have the same problem and my TomTom is "brand new". This unit is obviously dysfunctional and the company should take these back and submit a full refund. I tried notifying the TomTom Company to no avail. I will start mass emails to warn people about this company

Turn the tomtom on, and then press the reset button on the bottom of the unit with a paperclip. After the reset turn off the unit and then turn it back on. Make sure you have not dislodged the sd card from the unit.
