I have a WMD 960 (Hotpoint) that starts filling at the beginning of the programme for around 15 seconds and then everything stops. The display carries on counting down the programme time for a few minutes until it tells me 'no water, check supply' and starts the pump to empty the machine and an audible beeping alarm sounds. I have checked the pressure switch, sump, discharge pump, motor tacho. There is no blockage in the drainage and the supply water and inlet solenoid are OK. There isn't much left that it can be. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

I think you have a failed control panel circuit.

SOURCE: Problem with Hotpoint WD64 Washer Dryer

Effectively it looks like a water heating problem.

When the water cannot be heated sufficiently, the machine waits until water reaches desired temperature.
So that the program takes longer to complete.

Heating problems can be caused by:

Faulty heating element
Faulty heating element solenoid.
Faulty thermic switch (in this case the water will get hotter than normal)

The heating element and the solenoid can be tested for continuity using a multimeter.

If the machine is slow to fill check also that the inlet valve is fine and not obstructed.

SOURCE: Washer keeps displaying '4E' Lack of water error

If you have pulled out and cleaned the filter at the back of the machine where the hose connects then I would check that your pump is not running during the cycle and also make sure your drain line is at least half way above your drum at its highest point, If its too low then it will drain off even if the pump is not running.

SOURCE: Hotpoint WT761 washing machine - Error code F-10

Thats strange, F10 means no cold fill.
Ok back to basics, you can check the pressure switch by taking off the tube and gently blowing into it and I mean gently, you should hear a click if its ok - make sure the other end is'nt blocked, blow it out with a cycle pump near the drum end

SOURCE: My Hotpoint Ultima WMD 960 displays

Error code F04 means pressure switch jammed on empty.
Do the following.
Remove lower rear panel of washer.
Remove large black hose on bottom of drum.
Remove and clean filter inside the hose.
Remove the hose on to the pump, and check for blockage or obstruction here as well.
Please rate my solution.
Thankyou.

OK the manual has it a little wrong.
What you have to do is switch the power off (not at the wall but on the machine itself)
then press the three buttons for around 5 seconds till you hear a beeb
next time you switch it on it will be back to the language selection
just follow the manual to select.

My Hotpoint 960 is 18 months old and has develped a fault where the mains light and programmer display flicker simultaneously, and the machine cannot proceed through the programme. It does not respond to...

Flickering lights might just be caused by loose wires in the mains plug on the machine's power cable. I would suggest checking that first - for some reason the neutral wire seems more likely than the others to come loose. There might be brown / purple marks around the terminal inside the plug if this is the case. Also try replacing the mains fuse in the plug.

While you are there you might also try plugging a normal table lamp into the socket you use for the machine - if the house cabling to the socket is defective the lamp should flicker too.

If neither of these ideas is productive, the problem would appear to be within the machine, so please ask again. Good Luck D.
