When you forgot your passcode, iTunes will not recognize your iPod Touch unless you put it to DFU mode.
Once your iPod touch is in DFU mode, only thing that you can do next is to restore. This means, all data from your iPod touch will be deleted.

Do you mean the four-digit code for unlocking the iPod Touch? If so:
Connect it to your PC, run iTunes, click on the iPod within iTunes, then:
1) Click on "sync" to make sure any media purchased on the iPod is copied to the PC.
2) Click on "restore" to restore the iPod. This will remove the passcode, but will also remove all media, so then:
3) Click on "sync" to copy all media back onto the iPod.

connect it to itunes and do a reset and then restore your music etc and it should be fine - there is no way that I am aware of to recover it aside from resetting / restoring your ipod
