I think your phone still locked for your original network sim card only. You must unlock blackberry 7290 first before you put columbia sim card in your phone, try to use a blackberry unlock code to reset your phone network. This unlock code can be purchased easily at third party sites on internet so you can unlock it from columbia.

I am quite late in helping you but my information might help you in the future. If you want to unlock your blackberry, then I would recommend you Blackberry unlocking codes with IMEI. They are very reliable, CHEAPEST and provide good customer support service. Good luck!
There can be many ways to Unlock your phone. As far as i know unlocking by codes is the simple and safe way. I will suggest the website Unlock-Zone.com which is doing good service and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums. I used them to unlock my cell phone. contacted them and within 30 mins i had my unlock code and my phone was unlocked. Hope this helps.

You need to get it unlocked either by doing a search for unlocking blackberry 7290 and paying one of the online services.
Service providers will unlock their phones as well just tell them your traveling abroad and you need to unlock the phone. Otherwise if it is not affiliated with a service provider you will most likely have to pay someone to get you unlock code.
I do apologize but in order to unlock that phone you will need to either call the provider it was from and tell them your traveling abroad if you are currently with the provider or know someone who is they should be able to unlock it.
Otherwise you will have to pay for the unlock online. Sorry I have searched high and low for software I can use to unlock multiple phones and I have yet to fine it for the blackberries.
