I couldnt uninstall, its says to wait but does nothing

See what are the OS that support Spy Sweeper. This happens if you try to install a s/w in Vista which is compatible to Windows XP only.

Spy Sweeper purchased in July, 2009 will not work with Windows 7.

Ms Mason,

With Windows 7 there comes an improved Compatibility feature which allows you to run programs apparently not functional in Windows 7. In order to do this, please install the program as usual, making sure to tell the installation program to install a desktop icon. When it is finished, right click on the icon and select properties. The next window has a tab called compatibility. Click this tab and select Run program in... and select Windows Vista or Windows XP SP3 (either should work). I would also set it to run as administrator. See graphic below.

If the program wont install at all, than explore the CD and do the same process with the "setup.exe" program on the CD.

Good Luck,

I have installed Windows 7 and trying to install McAfee 2010 and the install will not complete because of a message that Spy Sweeper conflicts with McAfee. How can I uninstall spy sweeper? It is not listed...

Go to Start/Run and enter regedit hit the Enter key.
Go to:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/UNINSTALL

Look for any entries in that key that pertain to webroot or spysweeper and delete them. be very careful to only delete those entries and none of the others.

Or
You may also see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Webroot

In that REG_SZ . Delete this entry and restart your pc .. now you can install mcfeee

Webroot 6.1 Antivirus/SpySweeper won't open after install

Dear User,

Though Webroot 6.1 Antivirus works fine on Windows 7, but its Spyweeper (anti spywear), is not seems to be compatible with Windows 7.

You can look for the version of webrrot that is fully compatible with windows 7.
OR
You can go to the free versions of Antivirus availables for Windows 7 (as AVG Free).

Thanks

Webroot is still in my system but I don't have the icon.

Did you uninstall it or just delete the icon/shortcut? If you didn't uninstall it, try looking in (if this is a Windows system and the Webroot installation defaults were used) "C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper".. spysweeper.exe is the program name --- if it's there, you can create a shortcut to your desktop for it.

I have a subsription with McAfee and I cannot download the software before having this webroot spy sweeper removed.I cannot find it on my computer and never had a subscription with this webroot spy...

first uninstall the webroot spy sweeper through the following steps.
1.click start
2.go to control pannel
3.open 'add or remove program'
4.a window will open wait for some time until the list is populated

5 i)in that list find webroot spy sweeper and click remove
go through the uninstall wizard and finish the uninstallation process

5 ii)if you didn't find webroot spy sweeper there then it can be a virus
You need to download a program called MalwareBytes because that searces your entire computer
, finds the virus and completely destroys it.

http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Click the green 'download now' button (don't worry - this is free) and once you've downloaded it, got the updates and done a system sweep which takes a long time but it's worth it, you should be fine. It also solves the desktop, wallpaper and screensaver hijack, too.

6. restart your computer

7.open mycomputer click search and do a search for webroot spy sweeper
delete all the files and folders regarding webroot spy sweeper

8.now download mcafee before installing mcafee uninstall MalwareBytes and restart your pc
because at a time only one antivirus software should be used

i think this solution will help you
if the problem is not fixed please inform i will suggest some other ways

Spy sweeper reintalled 3 times and does not work

download spybot search and destroy and run this plus download and install avg 8 it's free and run both programs offline meaning not connected to the net and once done you may try and run spy-sweeper again.

If all fails try another copy from web it may have come down corrupted.

If all is well then happy surfing but if the new copy is the same then hunt in the registry for all keys belonging to spy sweeper once you have removed it from your computer also go-to program files directory and find the folder that belongs to spy sweeper and delete folder as most of un-installers don't remove the folder to program and try installing again and if all fails then then other thing I can suggest is move all your files to a safe place and redo your operating system from scratch but after you have installed os, install spy sweeper first then any other security software before you go to net.

hope this is helpful
