What kind of battery did they put in it?? G shocks are powered by a rechargeable solar battery!!! Should not have been replaced unless it was the same type of battery. I would be going back to jeweler and asking them to send your watch to Casio and they pay for the new solar battery. Let me know what happens.

Make sure the battery was not installed upside down.

Take the battery out again, wait for a few minutes, then replace it and shortcut AC and battery. After that you have to reset your watch completely. To find AC you will need an eyeglass.

If you are asking for that, it means you want to replace battery yourself, and if you do, you will have to open your watch anyway. So, open it, take the battery out and memorise all the writings on the battery. This is the type of battery you need.

There is no contrast adjustment...

Batteries low can affect the contrast. Try replacing the batt first. Is it all black? If so, the LCD is damaged.

It's a common problem, now that the earlier Tough Solar watches are getting on in years. Plus, there was apparently a bad production run by the battery manufacturer (Matsushita/Panasonic), so there's a certain subpopulation of G-Shocks that are seeing premature failure.

Replacement is easy. You'll need a jeweler's screwdriver set, ideally some plastic tweezers (though a toothpick will do), some metal tweezers for one of the final steps (but not for handling the battery), and if you're smart some latex gloves to keep everything pristine. Get a little tube of silicone grease, too (and ONLY silicone). Careful with it, though-- it's impossible to wash off of clothing, etc.
