We did not have a manual with the hob, how do we turn off child lock?
I got it working! I was messing around with it and I think what did it was just touching and holding the on button for a few seconds!
hope that solves it for anyone else!

to deactivate mine is as follows (copied verbatim from the manual)
to deactivate the childproof lock is the reversal of setting it -
turn all four hotplates to setting 2
turn off all the hotplates in order from right to left
touch the main switch for at least 5 seconds, once the five seconds is up you will hear an accoustic noise.
it is now deactivated
to turn it on with the childproof lock on you have to touch the main switch for 4 seconds

get the model number if a cooktop will be underneatth on sticker.... go to kitchaid.com and locate thier manuals and literature section where u can download a copy or print one out.... hope this helps

I've some how locked it and can't turn the lock off! Help. How do I do it?
I have the same issue, I think! when i try to use the hob the padlock lights and flashes and I have no idea how to get it working again!
II've tried turning off the electric and leaving it for a while before turning it back on, but that hasn't helped. I see no reason why the lock came on in the first place!
