How to thread a elnita 225

The manual for the Elna Elnita 225 is available for sale at several places, including https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/instruction-manual-elna-225.aspx. Some of the sources sell the manual as a PDF download.

Unfortunately, none of the sites that have free threading diagrams have this one available.

How do I sell problems

tension on an Elna L4 overlocker (or serger in USA) is controlled with the four dials on the front of the machine, an overlocker has a tension dial for each thread (usually 3, 4 or 5) and the mid range setting will be 5 on each dial. It is critical to lift the thread pole to its maximum height and follow the threading diagram correctly taking the thread from the cone, through the thread eyelets on the pole, then usually a thread carrier on top of the machine, down and around the tension dial, then usually through another couple of thread carriers until reaching the needle or loopers. Many overlockers will have a threading diagram inside the front looper cover and will use colour coding on the components so you can see where each thread goes.

How do you put a bobbin in a elna so i can use it to sew

Drop in a full bobbin with the holes side upwards (I'm assuming this is a Swiss Elna sewing Machine horizontal bobbin design as you haven't given the model number).

Now, hold the thread tail with your right hand and pulll the thread clockwise towards you while holding the bobbin still with a finger from your left hand. Bring the thread tail around towards you until it goes into the little slot, then press downwards onto the thread tail close to the bobbin until you hear it click into the tension spring. Test by lifting the thread tail upwards, it should stay in tension and not come back out of the groove.

Now close the back slide cover over the bobbin leaving the bobbin thread tail visible out to the right.

Now manually turn the flywheel towards you while holding the top thread tail and take the needle down into the bobbin holder area and back to the top, pull the thread tail to bring the bobbin thread up to the top.

There is a threading up diagrams at www.sewusa.com http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Elna_Sewing_machine_threading/Elna_Supermatic_threading_diagram.htm
for the old Supermatic but the bobbin holder design is almost identical for all the subsequent models such as the SU, TSP, Supermatic or Air Electronics like the Stella, Carina or Jubilee, the above is the same for all.

I have a Elna Air Electronic TSP machine and are looking for the manual. Type 58, no: x2414392. Where can i buy it and what is the cost? Regards, Anne-Marie Smit RSA

Hi Anne-Marie, I believe your TSP would look like this one below?
tally_girl_54.jpg
there is a manual available for download at www.diplodocs.com, just search with "Elna 58 tsp" and you should find it.

There is also a great website in the USA, www.whitesewingcenter.com where there is lots of Swiss Elna manuals, accessories and spare parts for sale, really great resource as Tavaro SA no longer operates and the current Elnas are made in Asia. They do sell O/S but you may need to pay by bank draft.

I trust that this helps you with your TSP, it was a well made machine.

I just inherited an Elna 2002 machine and I can't figure out where the thread goes on the machine. I've looked at pictures of the machine but there's not a holder on my machine for the spool. There are...

tally_girl_22.jpg You need to pull them up from the retractable position for storage and transport, many Elnas have the retractable thread spools like this to protect them from breakage.

How to thread an Elna 2005

Hi. I've searched a number of my sources for a manual for your machine, but the closest I could find is for the 2002-2004-2006 models at http://www.mastersewusa.com/info_elna_2002_2004_2006.html

Threading should be similar enough between your machine and the ones covered in this manual that you can see what's going wrong.

Hope this helps!

How to thread bobbin on Elna SU

Please describe the type of bobbin you have. Is it held inside of a removable metal casing? Or is it a dropin type? Is the sewing machine what is known as a "freearm" which you can put a sleeve or trouserleg over or is it a flatbed type? When I know this I can help you further.(I used to sell sewing machines).
