The supply of new parts for the XG series cameras has long been discontinued. You may have better luck finding a similar model for parts or maybe even a good working one on sites like eBay or Craigslist. Even if new parts were available, it would likely cost 40-50$ for the repair.

Rewind sound when switched from auto focus to manual focus

Probably a problem with the af/m switch so that even though switching to manual moves the connector out of the way (pulls it into the mount) the af motor continues to run. Remover the bottom and then the front cover and check the switch.

yes it should auto rewind. if it's new take it back to where you bought it. if not new, get an estimate cost before repaired.

My Minolta 7000 camera's rewind switch won't budge.

I have seen this on several of these, a small bit of plastic breaks off on the top cover and jams the rewind switch assembly.

To repair this you would have to take the top cover off and then remove the rewind swtich assembly from the top cover remove the bit of plastic and hey presto. You will find after removing the bit of plastic you will have to hold the lever to keep the camera rewinding, the lever will no longer stay in place as it used to (the bit of plastic held it in place)

Post back re Palmyman if you want to attempt this
