Model JVM1650WH02 will shut off about 2 seconds or less into cook time. everything else works such as light and clock and sometimes the wave will cook.

The magnetron is shorted or the inverter board is defective if microwave is 7 years old or less.

I regularly see (and repair) this light and / or fan failure on model JVM1660SB005 and most any model of over the range microwave.
The problem is on the controller assembly, which I regularly repair very affordably.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

See if this describes what's happening:

• Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

That may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I have model GE Microwave serial # JVM2070SK02. I start to cook something and it shuts off 5~10 seconds. Keyboard is still lit up, but no clock, fan, light and you cannot operate anything on the key pad. Unplug the unit and it resets. Sometimes it cooks, sometimes it doesn't? Please try on some other power point as if there is loose contact or sparking in point which cause to switch off as soon as you start because of heavy current drawn by oven and clock also resets. If not solved even then must have some short circuit or over loading in timer circuit or magnetron. in this case you have to call for a service engineer.
