Please check the settings on the fax machine. check the line to the fax and also the connectors, check using a phone to hear the dial tone. If this seems good check if the fax dials the call, if not check the settings for pulse or tone and reset. If there is not dialling then the fax machine has problems that are serious which might need careful probing.
Your fax machine reads multiple pages into memory before sending the job, this is the pool memory. Two things can cause this error.
Corrupted memory, which keeps the job from transmitting because the data stored is scrambled and lost prior to transmission.
Line static, which makes the connection so unstable and slow that the fax can't get enough pages out of the queue fast enough to make room for the next pages entering the buffer.
If you checked the line and it tested good (not just listening for a dial tone), then it is probably a memory issue.
If you put the document on the glass surface, your document should be face down. If instead you use the automatic feed on top of the machine you should place your document face up and the top of the page inside he feeder.
You can cancel a fax job that is stored and waiting in the memory. 1 For MFC-210C, press Menu/Set, 2, 5. For MFC-420CN, press Menu/Set, 2, 6. Any jobs that are waiting will appear on the LCD. 2 If you have more than one job waiting, press ▲ or ▼ to select the job you want to cancel. Press Menu/Set. —OR— If you only have one job waiting, go to Step 3. 3 Press 1 to cancel. To cancel another job go to Step 2. —OR— Press 2 to exit without canceling. 4 Press Stop/Exit.
That should do it for clearing faxes you dont need you can also print off all the faxes in the memory and I believe that clears it. Enjoy, Lee
First make sure your line cable is plugged into the correct place. Most
Brother machines have a plug for Line and a plug for Extension (EXT),
make sure it's plugged into "Line".
Go into the menu on your Brother machine and select Fax, then Setup
Receive and then select Easy Receive. This will usually solve most
recieve problems.
Brother machines come with s default of 4 rings before they will
answer, make sure none of your other devices (such as an answering
machine) are set to a lower number of rings or the fax machine will
never grab the line.
If you have distinctive ring, make sure you have it set up in the
machine. There is a section in the owners manual for setting up
discinctive ring.
If the machine grabs the line and goes through the motions but nothing
comes out on the page (no black print) then make sure you are using a
Brother ink cartridge (not refilled or generic) and print out the test
page using the "ink" button. Allow the machine to clean a few times and
see if the test page prints out correctly. If you are using refills or
a generic black, you might have premanently damaged the print head. In
this case take it to a service centre to have the head tested.
