Do I need two wireless network adapters? I looked in the device manager folder in network adapters and there are 2... Intel (R) Pro/1000 PL Network Connection #2 and Intel (R) Pro/wireless 3945ABG Network connection #2. My wireless signal is down to one bar and very slow. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I already enabled network adapter in Bios and updated the drivers.

You should have only 1 wireless adapter, the other 1 is the ethernet adapter. If you experience low signal strength even after updating the drivers, you need to customize wireless settings on the router.
You need to change the wireless mode to "802.11b and 802.11g" or "802.11g", whatever you have in your router. If this is the same with all wireless networks, wherever you go, then its an issue with the adapter, you should get a replacement.

I want to downgrade my intel pro/wireless 3945ABG v 12.4.0.21 to v 10.5.1.72 or 10.5.1.75. how to do that?

You will have to remove the driver & softwares from your operating system first.
To remove softwares... Go to Control Panel > Add Remove Softwares > Select Intel Pro/Wireless and choose remove.
To remove drivers... Right click on my computer > Go to Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Select Wireless Network Adapter > right click on it & select Uninstall
Then Restart your system & begin with the downgrade version of drivers you have.

I have a gate way laptop with Intel® PRO/Wireless 802.11g integrated wireless 10/100/1000 Mbps integrated Ethernet LAN card, i cannot connect to my wi-fi network, is it possible that the wi-fi card is...

Wi-Fi card can be considered broken only if its not able to scan for any available networks. Also, do check in the device manager of the computer. Check for the device status of this wireless adapter there. If its properly installed, etc., it should say, "This device is working properly". There is also a fix for other error messages. Regarding hardware breakage, we cannot come to a conclusion so easily as we have all these things to check. The case may be little complicated as its an in-built wireless card. We cannot even remove it and try on a different computer.

Vista Wireless Problem: Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG

Hi Pete,

You sound like you know what you're doing, so forgive me if these suggestions seem foolish or patronising..
Does your laptop have a wireless button?
8f45b35.jpg

When you go to Internet Options and click the Connections tab, have you checked 'Never Dial a Connection'? This is essential..
I have exactly the same ethernet card and network adaptor, but haven't had any problems, and we have 2 laptops and 2 pc's here all detecting our router okay so..
It's definitely not MAC filtering on the router, as you would still see the network in your list..
I can only suggest uninstalling the Intel Pro Wireless driver and downloading a fresh one from here.
That'll reset default settings at least..
Hope this helps
Let me know how you get on.. If I face this problem I want to know how to fix it too!

Wireless network found

If it cannot find any networks, check to see if there is a wireless on/off switch on the computer - look carefully some are well hidden. The switch turns the antenna on and off but windows still detects the network adapter and thinks everything is ok.

PROBLEM IN REDHAT LINUX

Hello there. You need to install the driver from http://support.intel.com/support/network/sb/cs-012904.htm

As a side note, Redhat AS is not really a great choice for beginners to linux, you may find Ubuntu or another new user orientated Distribution, makes a better attempt at hardware detection.

Hope this helps.

Intel Pro/Wireles is not connecting, Error Message "Error loading Plugins..."

the plug ins that it relates to can only be other programmes that are associated with the network for example windows zero configuration. I would suggest going to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and look in the list for network adapters and on the '+' sign right click on your wireless network card and select uninstal. Restart pc and it should be installed automatically, but keep your eye on the taskbar when it says found new hardware and ensure that it says it has found the intel pro wireless( if thats the model) and try again. Also re install the drivers from your notebooks web site incase there are updated ones.
