Just rendered my husband silent with awe...quick no cost repair to door latch Fridigaire Gallery Microwave... Please watch this video posted by someone else to learn how to remove the door panel www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIdT4kS3no Gently is the key to removing the panel.
After you remove the panel, lift the latch lever until it comes unseated. For our unit, the plastic tab in the door that held the spring was broken. I opened the bottom loop of the spring slightly with needle nose pliers. Threaded the spring loop onto the right stationary piece in the door. There is a hole to hold the spring just about the level of where the broken tab was. Put the top of the spring loop back on the latch tab and reinsert the latch assembly into their holders. Popped the panel back together and it works wonderfully. A flashlight, needle nose pliers, dinner knife and someone to steady the door is all you need. Bonus, what we saved on the repair can now be spent on some family fun....

Check the door latches inside the oven, open the housing and spray some lubricants on the latches.

The microwave of our combination oven and microwave won't work. What is wrong with it?

The issue you're experiencing with your KitchenAid microwave/oven combo sounds like it may be related to the door not being properly closed or latched.
  1. Check the door: Make sure the door is closed tightly and securely. If the door is not properly closed, the microwave will not work.
  2. Latch: Ensure that the door latch is in good working condition and securely latched when you close the door.
  3. Door switch: If the door is closed and latched properly, the problem may be with the door switch. A malfunctioning door switch can prevent the microwave from starting.
  4. Control board: The issue may also be caused by a malfunctioning control board. The control board is the brain of the microwave, and if it's not working correctly, it can prevent the microwave from functioning properly.
  5. Wiring: Check the wiring of the microwave, if the connections are loose or damaged it could cause the microwave to not work.
If none of the above steps resolves the problem, it's best to contact the manufacturer or a professional for further assistance, as these are complex appliances and require specialized knowledge to repair.
It's important to note that attempting to repair an oven or microwave without proper training and tools can be dangerous and could cause further damage or injury.

Hope this helps!

When you close the door, the system will not program , on our kenmore microwave oven. Now it trips the breaker. Why?

I am assuming that closing the door is a key to when the problem arises and will usually lead to a faulty door switch(s). The door switch must be made in order for the microwave safety circuit to be completed and let the microwave know that it is safe to operate. Door switch(s) are one repair worth making on a microwave as most other repairs are not worth the cost of the microwave oven. If you are handy you can check to make sure the switches are closing with a multimeter. Please make sure you have unplugged the microwave before attempting to check the switches. You do not need the power on to verify the closing of the door switch(s).

Timer changing but microwave is not turning on?

Hello :

It's a bad door switch or loose door switch mount . There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly .

WARNING : A microwave oven is capable of giving you a serious electrical shock, even when it is unplugged. I strongly recommend you seek the assistance of an appliance repair technician when conducting any microwave oven repair .

good luck .
