GE model # jvm1540dn1ww key pad stopped working. Lights up if I unplug it and plug it back in, then tells me to set the clock but nothing happens when I push the key pad. Then after awhile it just goes black. How do I get the key pad off? Can this be fixed while it is still mounted?

SOURCE: The key pad doesnt work, had it less than a year.

The panel may have a short or need to be tested for replacement. You should try and leave unplugged for 8 hours so power supply can fully drain power and reset microwave

Electronic control no working today, managed to get oven on can't turn off.

It may be on auto cook? Try unplugging the unit for 10 or 15 minutes then plug back in and see if it resets itself. Set the clock to correct time and start again. If it is still playing up, the touch pad membrane may be faulty. Don't use spray cleaners on these touch pads, it ruins them.

Touch sreen won't work

I would suspect it either needs a hard reset (unplugging it for a few minutes, then trying again) or the membrane keypad is failing.

Instead of JMV1540BMC01, it would probably be one of these models:

GE Sensor Microwave model JES1456wf001 error code F3....how do we fix . Microwave comes on when plugged in and then reads to set clock and then it rings several times and we get an F3 code

F3 is a shorted key pad. To prove this, unplug the ribbon cable of the key pad from the control board and this symptom should go away when you plug the AC cord back into the wall. BE CAREFUL!!!

Microwave key pad stopped working

Okay, thank you for that.

You have a failed membrane keypad, but on this model, it is not available separately.

You would need to order the control panel assembly, part # WB56X10817, which you can get here for far less than GE charges.

It costs more than just a membrane would, but is much simpler to replace.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you remove your circuit board from the old frame and install it in the new frame.

The display lights are all solid and nothing happens when you press on the keys. I have a GE Sensor Microwave. I bought it in September of this year. Came home from work one day, went to heat something up...

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

You may have a failed keypad.

G.E. Spacesaver Microwave - Keypad Won't Work

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

You may have a problem with the keypad or the control unit (circuit board / smart board).

We repair these on a regular basis. Details and *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info is at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
