Husqvarna ROSE: started going slow after rewinding the bobbin. Now I can hardly move the handwheel, let alone sew anything. It feels as if it has siezed, but when my husband took the 'collar' off, everything was moving freely.

Is the thread even on the bobbin when it is finished, if it is higher on one side the machine may think it is done, I watch the bobbin wind and if it is not looking even I give the thread a nudge up or down whichever it needs with a seam ripper or something, not your finger the thread moving that fast will cut you in a heartbeat. hope it helps good luck!

When the bobbin is wound with too much tension it crushes the inside and won't come off the spindle. You need to pull all the thread off the bobbin and replace it. Make sure you wind the bobbin at slow speed and the presser foot is up if you wind through the needle.

The bobbin winder may need a new bobbin tire. Does the bobbin winder move over like normal?

Before you start fiddling with the bobbin tensions, make sure the bobbin is loaded correctly. The bobbin thread should "click" into the tension slot. If you really need to adjust it, remove the bobbin cover, the stitch plate (feed teeth down, it slides forwards - use the black shaped piece on the end of the brush to help but you can do it just by force alone) and the bobbin case holder (light grey curved piece - it just lifts out), then remove the entire bobbin case. Try to mark where the slot in the tension screw is at the present time with whiteout maybe or even try scoring the bobbin case at that mark. This is so you have a point of reference and also so you can return it to that place if everything goes completely out of whack.
Use a small screwdriver to move that tension screw (it is the one directly outside the tension slot). Turn it only 1/5th of a circle at a time, replace everything and do a test sew. Turn to the right to tighten, to the left to loosen (righty-tighty - lefty-loosey). You should never have to adjust the bobbin tension a huge amount and only ever if you are sewing with unusual fabrics and/or threads. If you continue to experience problems, it would be money well spent to take your machine to a tech. and have it serviced and tweaked up - the upper tensions might need adjusting too and only a technician can get everything balanced properly and back to out-of-the-box specifications.
Do hope you are enjoying your Rose. I had one but traded it on a Designer 1 years ago. As much as I love the Des.1, I would dearly love to have my Rose back.

Check that it is threaded correctly (both top and bottom) making sure that the upper thread is in the takeup lever. What the needle as you slowly turn the handwheel counter clockwise (toward you) and the needle point touches the fabric (make sure presser foot is down). Is the thread still relatively taunt? If it is loose, the upper thread tension unit does not have enough tension. Check the areas where the thread goes and make sure you remove any loose threads or fluff which could be inhibiting the tension discs from closing over the thread. If the tension unit still is not tightening enough, the tension unit may need to be replaced or the circuit board replaced. If everything is ok in the upper thread area, now look at the bobbin area. With no fabric, watch as the needle enters the bobbin area. Does it go down and the upper thread catch the bobbin thread and pulls it to the surface? Check for anything preventing the bobbin thread from being pulled up to the surface through the needle plate. If you have still not been able to resolve the problem suggest you take take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. i have a husqvarna rose, i has the same problem when i started using my machine. i was suggested to not wind the bobbin so fast. the reason it gets stuck is because the thread is so tight on the bobbin it actually makes the bobbin a tiny bit smaller, making it hard to get off again. if you dont wind it so fast, it doesn't get so tight.

Check for loose threads or fluff in upper tension unit and bobbin case tension gauged to 14g resistence. Otherwise, service time I'm afraid.
