A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the magnetron thermostat to open. Then when it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

I have a Panasonic Demension 4 The Genious microwave model NE-9970. The unit has worked perfectly for more than 30 years without incident. This morning it tripped the breaker as soon as I pressed start. I...

That is an odd series of events. Microwave ovens don't have a reset button but they do have a slow blow fuse. It is no point replacing it because you have a more serious short circuit that tripped the breaker immediately. You can't work on Microwave ovens yourself as they are so dangerous inside. Also the case is fixed with special security screws. Panasonic are pretty much the best in the business and I have used many in a commercial kitchens environment. The old ones are much better made than any new one these days, so it is well worth getting it repaired. Pull it out and take in.

I have a frigidaire over the counter microwave and the turntable quit working

Good Afternoon Friend, I appreciate your post!

If the turntable of your Frigidaire microwave has stop working, often the possibilities include one of three culprits:

  • Power Supply
  • Turntable Turned Off
  • Turntable Support Damaged

I always recommend resetting your microwave first before reaching out to a professional. You can do so by unplugging your appliance or flipping the circuit breaker for about ten minutes and then turn on your microwave.

Best of luck!-Z

Model r-1501 no power, it is a cabinet unit

It may be a blown fuse, the cavity thermal cutout, or the magnetron temperature fuse.

My Frigidaire PLMV 169 DCD has stopped working. The turn table rotates slowly, lights are lit but no cooking being done. The fan is off and no sound at all from within. What could have happened?

HI, have the power sector tested. test the HV capacitor for its operational value. this may be the actual issue but, testing is needed to confirm. there is a running diode as well on the noise filter board. have it tested as well. replace both componets if found to be defective.
