I have purchased an R4 card and micro sd card for my DS. I have been told that I need to download the software for it, does anybody know what software I need to download before i can transfer my games onto it.

Google R4 revolution or R4 card. You will see a host of websites. Each one will have a download for the card... Your best bet for finding the correct kernel is to go to the website that you purchased the card from and there should be a link to download the firmware( kernel ) for the card. Once you get the firmware you will need to transfer that onto your micro sd card using the TF adapter that should have come with the R4 card. Make sure you transfer everything over to the micro .... After you get the info onto the card make folders for your media. Label them correctly so you can find them on your ds. Label one music one movies one games. After that is done insert your micro sd card into the R4 and plug it into your ds... have fun ..these cards really open the ds up to a ton of neat and fun programs

Stuck on Loading Screen This usually indicates that the software kernel on the micro sd memory card has become corrupted. It can also happen if the micro sd memory card is overloaded with games, music and video files etc. The solution is to reinstall the kernel software on the micro sd card and ensure the micro sd memory card is not overloaded. Leave about 25% memory free.
download SDformatter and format the sd card with that, place all the files on there, none in folders..
  • Download the correct software kernel from the manufacturers website
  • Unzip the files using a suitable programme such as Win Zip or 7 Zip.
  • Open the folder containing the unzipped files and copy the 4 files (Moonmemo, Moonshl2, R4iMenu and R4.dat) to the root of the memory card.
  • At this point put the memory card into your R4 card. Start your console and ensure the R4 card is operating correctly.
  • You may have to run an upgrade file at this point

How to download games onto your r4 ds.
Firstly you need to make sure you have the following:
An R4
A micro sd card which fits into the R4
A micro sd card adapter so you can connect it with the computer
Winrar - you can download a free 4o day trial software (which doesnt actually rin out) http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html or http://www.win-rar.com/download.html are good sites to download winrar from.

Ok now you have everything i personnaly use romulation which is a free ds game download site. You may find it easier to make an acount to download alot of games. Download your selected game to your desktop. Save the file. Then insert your micro sd card to your computer, open the sd card file through either start>computer>removable disk or autoplay.
The downloaded game should be in winrar format. Open the download, you should be able to see a file named after the game. Open the file, and you will see the game, then simply drag the game over onto your sd card into the folder named "games". The game is bow on your ds R4.

New R4 card wont work !!!!
First make sure you have the correct kernel for the card. Go to the website where you purchased it and download the current firmware. Next copy all of that onto the micro sd card. Build folders in you sd card, very simple right click...new folder... enter... then label them correctly .. Label one movies... music... games.. etc... then put your files into the correct folders.. Another common error is that people use to high of a sd card.... some r4 cards only accept up to a 2gb micro card If you use one that is too big it will stick on the loading screen ... If none of this works reload all the software onto the card and start from scratch... hope this helps

Tried to download software for r4 micro sd card 4gb sh but does'nt work.comes on the ds loading ,works fine with 2gb sd card,any ideas? thank's colin
Hey there Colin,

The original R4 card only works with Micro-SD cards up to 2GB in size. To use Micro-SD cards up to 32GB, you need to buy the newer R4 SDHC card or a Nintendo DSi comaptible card. Check out R4 Cards / R4 DS Cards from DSCardWorld.com or NDS-Gear.com (NDS-Gear is probably better if you live in Europe or Canada as their shipping's slightly better internationally).

When I put my micro SD card into the R4 card, put it in my ds (original), and turn the power on it detects that I have put the game in but the message "Loading..." stays on the screen - it doesn't actually...
its the software on the micro sd i had the same problem did you get software with it? if not try downloading from r4 website.
