I had the same problem 4/28/08 - Called Maytag they're sending the part and repairman free.
IN THE MEAN TIME.......Maytag suggested to me to: take a phillips head screw driver and remove the hinge cover from the top of the left door. You'll find a white connector with four wires coming from each side. Disconnect the connector in the middle and the flap will stop (and so will the lights).
A friend and I have the same unit,he was telling me that his started doing the exact same thing last night. Here is a link to what he found. http://www.liny.net/Maytag%20Ice2O%20Fridge%20Fix%20for%20Flashing%20Lights%20V1.0.pdf
I just had this problem start up last night. I called Maytag this
morning and they told me that they would repair the problem. Parts and
labor are covered, but I have to pay the diagnostic fee. I'm assuming
the diagnostic fee is the fee of the local authorized company to service
the repair which in my area they told me should cost $59.95. For a
authorized repair I can live with that since it guarantees I would be
getting a new board and likely another 1 year warranty. Note I did tell
them I searched for the problem online, and that the problem matched my
issue where there were 2 capacitors bulging. I also mention that I saw
that this was under recall.
However I did have a backup plan in case they didn't follow through,
take a look at this link I'm attaching and it tells how to repair it.
It's basically replacing 2 capacitors that had blown. I got this link from few posts above BG_AL. http://www.liny.net/Maytag%20Ice2O%20Fridge%20Fix%20for%20Flashing%20Lights%20V1.0.pdf
I had the same problem with my Ice2o and it was 3 months out of the 5 year extendd warranty.
I drove over to the Maytag repair center, bought a board for $180 and installed in 5 minutes. Took longer to clean up the dust bunnies under the fridge.
Problem was definitely the High Voltage Board. You'll find part number in the schematics under 'Board, HV'.
I concur with calling Maytag. I'm on the phone with one of their reps now and he's overnighting a new PCB free of charge. Installation is free too.
I had the exact same problem 4 days ago. This is definitely a problem known to Maytag - because when I called their customer service - she heard the flapping noise in the backgrond and immediately knew what to do. Even though the fridge was out of warranty (by about 4 months), Maytag shipped me the part overnight and scheduled their authorized repair center to come anf fix it.This was done free of cost. Otherwise, it would have set be back about $300.00 for the board and $176.00 for the service call??
So please contact Maytag Customer Service. It is a known probelm (essentially a bad board) and they consider it a "recall" and will fix it free for you.

My Maytag H2O problem started with not dispensing ice or water , 8 hr 's later all the lights start flashing like crazy and the ice disenser flap started flapping open and shut .I unplugged the frig and called a repair man , he's supposed to be here in 2 days .

I am extremely discouraged. I am having the same problem exactly. I think it is pretty bizarre that all of these problems are happening at the same time. I wonder if there is some remote control at Maytag that is making everyone's fridge go bad at the same time! LOL

My frig is 2yrs old it started the blinking lights and flapping 4-23-08 I called Maytag the next morning I received the part next day.And they have a service tech coming to fix it all at no cost to me. Other than a little annoying flashing I'm still happy with Maytag they stand behind there products. The technology with this kind of frig is still new so I understand there may be some glitches.
Same problem here, the control board on the icemaker is blinking and the flapper thing to let the ice out is possessed-keeps opening & closing by itself and is INCREDIBLY noisy. Of course it happened on a Saturday night around 1 AM. GEEZ! Anyway, hopefully when I call Maytag on Monday morning they will do something for us also. Its incredible how we as consumers spend so much on "quality" appliances and we would have been better off buying a no frills model. Thank you so much for all that posted, at least I know I not alone.
I just had the same problem over the weekend. Check out the post by BG_AL it explains it perfectly. I have a little mechanical ability, but checked with the maintenace man where I work. Printed all the pages up, he walked me thru it. A piece of cake if you just take your time.
Same problem with flap opening/closing, blinking lights, etc... ugh! The unit is just under two-years old. Just disconnected the wire under the left door hinge to stop the opening/closing of the flap and stop the disco, blinking lights on the panel. Will call Maytag and use the tips/advise from the multiple postings within to obtain parts & labor. Not sure if the freezer & fridge will continue running now that the wire is disconnected. Any advise out there? Thanks very much.
