PROBLEM WITH SAMSUNG DLP TV

I have a Samsung DLP projection TV and it keeps turning off ever 5 mins. The TV turns on and the the 3 lights blink. Then the TV shuts off but sound could still be heard for another 5 secs. I don't know if it is a lamp problem or what. Please help me. Thank you.

My 42" DLP shuts off every so often. the TV will play for 1/2 hr. then shut off and would continue to shut off every 5/7 min.

Disconnect the power and hold in the power button for 30 seconds to reset it.

It could be the temp sensor going bad. This sensor sits on top of the metal housing which the bulb assembly slides into. The bulb assembly will have a hole on top and this is where the sensor is above. There is a small blue and white wire that plugs into it. If you pull the wire out and put a paper clip or wire in the coupling you will basically bypass the sensor connecting the blue and white wire. If your tv turns on then that is your problem. Its cheap too. Here were my symptoms..1] Turn tv on 2] Bulb would light up..(which eliminates the ballast) regular picture would show up (which eliminates the bulb and color wheel) 3] 30 seconds later tv would shut down with 3 flashing lights. After bypass the tv turned on as always and hasnt shut down yet. Always un plug tv first. Get the replacement part to avoid overheating and possible fire

Had a power outage while watching tv. Then 3 blinking lights.

This is an on-going problem with DLP sets. Normally you shut the set off and the cooling fan cools the lamp down and then it shuts off. In your case, of which it's not your fault, however your lamp has taken a major hit by not properly cooling down, in turn, you need to replace your lamp at this time.
I suggest in the future if you have an electrical storm and a chance of a power outage while your watching tv, I would'nt play that model or any other model of a DLP set.

Your color wheel has gone bad. I recommend this repair to only be done by a qualified Samsung service center. Part costs less than $100
