Sony sometimes goes black screen on channel switch!

Since last week I have got a problem with my Sony KDL-40W5710. (I bought the Sony 5 month ago.) When I'm swithing channels the picture and sound sometimes disappears. Screen goes black. Only the channelbar is left saying No signal. At that state all coded channels are black. I have to "boot" the TV to get back the picture and sound.
I use Conax CA module.

The "funny" part is that I went back to the store where I bought the CA module and there was another Sony customer with the same exact same issue. His problem also started last week..and we both have the same supplier of channels. (I do not have automatic updates enabled on my Sony.)

I have the firmware 1.303EA and is aware about the 1.600EA.
Is to chicken though since I read about someone that lost channels after update.

Signal strength looks Ok 100%.
QMA changing between -50 to -75 (have not seen this before ,use to be stable)

Can something incoming from the cable net cause this issue?

Any idéas?

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

This is a software issue with both the TV manufacture and the cable box provider. This will only be fixed when the cable company and TV manufacture sit down and work out their problem. Some cable company has taken the first step by updating cable boxes with different software.

SOURCE: my sony bravia digital channels always drop out of

For tuner problems, especially the digital channels, you should check for a TV firmware update at www.sonystyle.com. I was having some strange loss of digital channels on our 40" Bravia, starting with channels only appearing for a second before the screen produced a 'No Signal' message. After we tried the automatic retuning, then we could not even get the one second signal. None of this appeared on the description of the download. However, we downloaded the patch to our PC, loaded the file (19 MB) onto a small flash drive, which we then used to upgrade the firmware in the TV. All our digital tuner problems disappeared!!

We have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000 flat screen television. About 6 months ago, the screen started displaying white, green and black vertical lines and dots. This continued for a few weeks and then the...

It's a connection inside the TV that's faulty. It could be as simple as reseating the ribbon cables that connect the control board to the glass display. Or it could be that the fault is on the board and needs to be replaced. The fact that the problem comes and goes should tell you it's fixable.

Sony kdl-46xbr4 Black Horizontal Bands When I First Turn on TV

I had the exact same problem with the Sony KDL46XBR4. The problem started 11 months after I purchased the TV (Dec 2007). Luckily I placed the call to Sony just before the 1 year warranty expired and they replaced the entire front panel which is basically the whole TV except for the stand and the plastic frame. Last month the same issue started happening again (5 months since the repair). I called Sony and they say they have a 90 day warranty on the replacement part so I would need to pay out of my own pocket to first have the problem diagnosed (it's the EXACT same problem!) and then pay to have the repair done since the warranty has expired. I asked how much the front panel costs and it's $1,400! I paid $2,100 for the TV when I purchased it. Interestingly, at the time that part was back-ordered.....hmmmm, I wonder why??? Perhaps a recall is warranted here (no pun intended). Needless to say, I have sworn off Sony products due to their lack of support for this issue.

SONY BRAVIA HIGH DEF KDL-26M3000

This TV is almost 8-10 yeas old, in that time the HDMI specification is not firmly set, the problem in most of the case is compatible problem. You may log in SONY website, try to up date the firmware; in other possibility that the main board may be bad.
