The belt is replaced by removing the rear panel, but be careful as the sides of the rear opening is very sharp. it is unlikely that the belt has come off, im 100% sure that the brushes(carbons) have worn down on the motor. this is a very common fault with your particular machine.

I'm looking for a manual for white Westinghouse spacemates 3 to change dryer drum belt

You can do it without a manual. Unplug the unit. Remove the screws on the back that hold the top lid on. Look down inside the back and you will see the belt running from a pulley on the motor to a large pulley on the drum. It may has the access through a rear panel. Most don't need an adjustment for tension, just peel the old one off if necessary and replace the new one. Take the serial numbers etc off the plate on the back when you look for a new belt. Check the drum and motor rotate smoothly before fitting the new belt.

Dryer won't turn

Okay, approach the dryer and first unplug it from power. Now very carefully take a flat blade screw driver and push the blade into the right or left front corners of the dryer box exterior between the mani box housing and the top. Carefully pry upward trying not to scar the porcelain paint finish. You will hear apop as the lid hold down spring detaches and releases. repeat on the other side. Place a hand on each of the lid corners and lift. the top will rise a angle upwards and to the back, use something to prop up the lid. Now looking down you will see the drum and a large narrow band running around the drums circumference . This is the drum belt if it is tight with no play. It is in
a proper position if it is about 4 to 6 inches from the back of the drum.
If it is displaced or hanging off the back see if it will move back up onto the drum. If when you do this it is loose or not tensioned tightly the belt will need adjusting down near the motor. To do this you must remove the back of the dryer, please be careful not break or disconnect the wires unless you mark them with tape to show where they were attached. Now this step works for both broken and displaced ,or improperly tensioned belts. at the motor near the bottom of the dryer you will see a pulleythat the belt attaches to on the motor right above the motor pulley you will see a tensioning bar or a pulley .this tensions the belt so it will tightly grip the drum of the dryer and the motor pulley.
Loosen the bracket position the belt and then retighten making sure the belt tension is tight on the drum. Now hand rotate the drum and see if the tension of the belt turns with the motor and does not slip.
IF it slips retension and recheck. If everything turns the way it should
Put the dryer back together, but do not entirely close the lid.Plug the dryer in, Set a dryer preset such as air dry and turn it on. if the
drum turns and doesn't squeal every thing is a okay . Turn it off and close the lid. Make sure the lid holddown catches lock the lid down.
Pop in a mid size load of clothes or Towels turn the unit on. If it squels it needs re tensioning. Now worst case scenario, the belt wont tension because it is stressed, frayed or stretched, go through the replacement procedure again. Proper Tension of the belt is key to peak operation. Good Luck if you are a stickler for proper belt deflection, a
technical term used forhow tight a belt can be before a belt is too tight, go to the dryer company's website and look for drum belt deflection measurements. I always used the belt rotation slip or no slip test. Have fun !!

Drum not spinning on my indisit dryer

If the dryer has a belt fitted it may have come off or snapped, remove the lid or look underneath and you may see a broken belt.
If not belt driven the brushes in the motor may need replacing if they ahve worn.

I HAVE A GE DRYER THE MOTOR SHUTS OFF WHEN YOU RELEASE THE START BUTTON AND THE DRUNM WONT ROTATE

there's a broken belt switch connected to the belt idler pulley,(when this belt breaks the switch opens) located down by the motor and it kills the power to the dryer when the belt breaks so the heating element cant get the clothes too hot to burn the clothes when the drum cannot rotate properly

Replacing the drum belt

Hi.
Ensure power is disconnevcted first!
  1. Locate the lid. On both left and right front of the lid you will find a cover. Remove covers and this will gain access to screws (probably will be star shaped heads so a normal philips screw driver wont work.) B&Q will sell them.
  2. slide top backwards. It might need a slight tap as its often tight. Push lid backwards and it should lift off.
  3. Now the drum spindle will be located at the back of the appliance. If the belt is still intact then you have a fault somewhere else. If belt has come off then you will need replacement belt, part number, 1603287
  4. Remove bottom plate, located at back of appliance. here you will see the motor spindle.
  5. This is now the tricky part. The belt is a stretch type so it will appear to be too short but the best way to do this is to put the belt around the motor spindle first. then place around one side of the drum spindle (normally black). If you have a extra pair of hands then as you stretch the belt over the spindle someone else can SLOWLY rotate the drum (by placing their hands inside the drum and holding on to the paddles) and you can then "thread" the belt round. You may need to do this a few times as sometimes the belt slips off.
Good luck.

HOW DO I FIT NEW BELT TO HOTPOINT WF430 WASHING MACHINE

The easyest way to fit these belts is to locate it on the motor pulley and as far onto the right hand side of the main pulley (viewed from the front of the machine) as possible. Hold it on the main pulley with a cable tie and rotate the drum anti clockwise by turning it from inside. The belt will be drawn onto the pulley and the cable tie will snap as it rotates. (Easy)

How to get into the cabinet? I have a Kenmore Dryer that hums but the drum won't turn, maybe belt! Model # 110 62942100 thanks, tom

Hi,

Kenmore dryer belt

  • UNPLUG DRYER
  • remove lint filter
  • remove two screws in lint filter panel securing cabinet lid to filter frame
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade, depress clips ~2inches in from the front corners of the lid to release cabinet lid
  • tilt lid up
  • remove 1 screw from each side 1/3 the way down
  • remove cabinet front and door
  • motor bearings tensioner are all visible

  • lift out drum forwards
  • check support rollers felts and nylon glide bearings for wear
(worn bearing surfaces are the most common cause of belt breakage, and you dont want to do it again next month)
  • make sure tensioner is still installed in cabinet base, sometimes breaking belts pull them out
  • loop belt around drum at prior wear marks
  • reinsert drum
  • pull tensioner to end of travel against spring
  • loop belt around motor pully and tensioner
  • relax tensioner
  • rotate drum by hand to make sure belt wont jump off.
Thanks

Drum does not rotate

The drum rotates due to a belt that goes around the drum and is driven by a small motor. The most likely answer is that the belt broke. This a common problem on an older dryer. It is relatively easy to replace the belt.

Hot point dryer

the drum has dropped
the drum is suspended on felt pads to seal the drum edges, nylon guides at the front, and rubber tyred thrust rollers to withstand the torque of the motor and belt at the rear.
the usual cause is the rollers have failed, common fault, easy fix, cheap too
good rollers look like this
1ac2db2.jpg worn rollers like this
34b5f0e.jpg
try not to run the dryer till the rollers are replaced, the extra strain will break the belt,

  • unplug dryer(220v is Not Fun)
  • remove lint screen
  • undo screws inside lint screen holder, screwing it to case lid (so lid can tilt up)
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade, release spring catches under front corners of case lid
  • raise case lid
  • remove screws 1/3 way down front corners of body holding front panel on
  • remove door switch cable from door switch
  • lift door off set aside
  1. drum motor felts and bearings are now accessible.
  2. pull tensioner fully agains spring
  3. remove belt from motor pulley
  4. lift drum and withdraw fully forwards
  5. with drum removed check support rollers for free movement, check drum slides and/or drum felts for wear
reassemble.
  1. loop belt loosely around drum at wear marks from prior installation
  2. reinsert drum onto rollers bearings slides felts as installed.
  3. loop belt around motor pulley
  4. pull tensioner pulley against spring to end of its travel
  5. loop belt around tensioner pulley
  6. relax tensioner pulley to tighten belt
  7. rotate drum by hand to ensure belt is aligned
reassemble case in reverse order.
