Kenmore side by side - icemaker seems to run too fast because the ice cubes are often hollow and they stick together in large clumps. Everything else in the freezer is frozen solid, so I know the freezer temperature is set cold enough to adequately freeze the ice I feel like it would be cool if there was an adjustment that would make it run slower and freeze harder before ejecting the ice. Anyone have any thoughts?

icemaker inmodel FFHN2740PS0 continues to jam when dumping ice, believe this is being caused by the cubes being made are are being ejected as one solid mass. is there an adjustment to make the cubes smaller?

IF FREEZER IS A THE CORRECT TEMP/ O-10 DEGREES, THE FREEZER IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A THERMOSTAT IN YOUR ICE MAKER, IT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. IT IS A SMALL BI METAL SWITCH THAT TRIGERS ICE MAKER WHEN IT REACHES ITS PROPER TEMP. THE PROBLEM IS, IT IS TRIGERING IT AT TO LOW OF A TEMP.NOT ALLOWING THE ICE TO FREEZE SOLID. IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT CHANGE BIMETAL SWITCH OR CHANGE ICE MAKER ITSELF.

Kenmore icemaker

It sounds like the icemaker is making hollow cubes , and the unfrozen water in the cubes , after dumping , freezes and causes the ice shells to stick togather . This is a sign of " not enough water going into the icemaker " . Replace the water inlet valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to , on the refrig .

Hollow ice cubes and ice cubes getting jambed by abnormally shaped ice formation on the rotating teeth?!?!?

More than likely, the water entering the icemaker is not enough, possibly caused by clogged water valve or reduced pressure from incoming water line. Check water line pressure if ok proceed to replace the water valve.

Maytag msd2356ae ice maker will only give me hollow ice any ideas.

Hi,
Hollow ice cubes are most often cause by insufficient water supply. Icemakers fill for about 7.5 seconds, resulting in about 4.75 oz. (140 cc) of water into the ice cube mold. If there s not enough water pressure available at the fridge, cubes may end up hollow and/or the fill could continue to dribble, eventually causing the fill tube to freeze closed.
pls rate my suggestion.........

Ice maker is making hollow ice cubes, some only half frozen

Most ice makers have an adjustment screw to control the cube size. Its usually hidden behind a plastic panel on the front of the ice maker. A quarter turn either way and some trial and error testing should get you pointed in the right direction to your ideal ice cube.

Ice maker is not putting out ice GE

Low water pressure usually the cause of that, just like when you get hollow ice cubes as explained here:

Kenmore side by side 253.54662400 makes hollow ice cubes - do not dump

yes i would replace the icemaker. it sounds like the heater and ejectors have lost their sync. could be caused by the internal drive motor.

Ice maker quit making ice

your refrig has a built in bypass in the filter housing so yes it will work with out a filter in place. if you have not replaced your filter in the last 6 months that is likely the problem. Hollow cubes are usually a sign of not enough water getting into the icemaker then it cycles too fast and harvests hollow cubes.

when the hollow cubes fall into your bucket they bust and put water in with your cubes freezing them together. so by solving your water supply problem you'll solve most of your icemaking issues..

Hollow Ice- Slow Ice!!

Hollow ice is a dead give away that there is not enough water filling the trays. Check that the line isn't pinched from pushing the unit back in place, etc. Also check any filters or filter screens in the water line to the ice maker.
