Telephone eMachines, and order a replacement "System Recovery" set of CDs. Given the serial-number and model-number of your computer, they know what O.S. originally was factory-shipped with your computer, and they will replace that part.
Probably, a small fee for courier-shipping.

I found a good one at http://www.reset-windows-password.com/how-to-reset-windows-password.html last week, and then I downloaded it and used it to remove the lost password within only few minutes. Furthermore, the powerful tool didn't cause a little data lose. It's worth an attempt.

I am trying to restore my emachine to it's original factory settings as I am going to sell it. I have been told that I need to go in the emachines folder in programs but there isn't a folder...

emachines does not provide any factory restore option in computer, in fact you might have received factory restore disks when you bought it, which can be used to restore your computer Or you can check with emachines if they can provide you these disks
hope this helps

PC System Restore without disk?

Telephone eMachines, and order a replacement set of "System Restore" CD-ROM disks.
Probably about $20 for the set, and $20 for overnight-courier shipping.
Use those disks to reinstall the Operating System that was originally installed on the computer.

After reinstallion, no emachines recovery/original programs/apps

Your recovery software is usually comprised of more than one disk. You should have one windows disk in addition to the eMachines disk(s). Complete recovery requires that you use all the disks, in order to return to original state. If you are missing programs, it is because you did not use all the disks.

Option A: Go here to order a complete set of recovery disks:

https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=emachines

You will need your machine serial number to ensure you obtain the correct recovery disks; they are about 20$ plus shipping.

Option B: Use your eRecovery: Restart the computer and when it begins booting up, you have to hit repeatedly/hold down a key to enter the Recovery management menu. As for the key, it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but try the F10 key for starters. If it's not that one, try the F12, or the F8 key. That should get you pointed in the right direction. Just follow the screen prompts, and choose RECOVERY, not RESTORE. Also make sure you choose Recovery without disks.

Reply if you need more help.

Hope this helps.

Restore emachine

Your machine has two ways of repair: SYSTEM RESTORE and SYSTEM RECOVERY. System restore is a Windows utility that rolls the machine back to a point where the machine worked before the problem. System recovery is an eMachines tool that puts the machine back the way it was when you first got it. Restore wont delete your data, recovery will and can. If the problem is catastrophic, and youve backed up your data off of the machine, use the recovery option. Your recovery partition (or a recovery disk) is needed to do this, and it involves pressing a key while the computer boots up. Check your documentation for your model of machine.

Emachine t2042

*.GHO files are Norton Ghost images that are used by some OEM's to create a factory defuault image. When you restore this it should set the pc back to the same condition it was in when u purchased it however this will erase all your personal data on the drive.

If you are getting this error it means that the ghost image you are using to restore the PC is corrupted and cannot be used. eaither the CD is trying to read this data from a corrupted restore partition or the restore disk you have is bad (sometimes the disk may look fine- no scratches or anything and still be bad)

Try checking the disk for scratches or smudges but if you dont find any you can clean off the disk you will have to contact e-machines for a replacement disk.
