DE 500P - Fan will not shut off

My Delonghi DE 500P dehumidifies fine however the fan runs 24x7 and does not shut off unless the unit is completely shut off. This wastes a lot of energy needlessly. The only available sections for fan setting are low/med/hi (no off, or unselected option). Is the circuit board fried etc? Anyone know how to fix or can service in Franklin, MA area?

If you have the fan icon selected, it is supposed to run continuously. If you use the mode button (not the fan button) to change to relative humidity (the water drop icon), the fan should only run with the dehumidifier.

My delonghi dem 10 dehumidifier is working and collecting water but but the pause is continuously flashing why is this

The flashing pause light on your DeLonghi dehumidifier indicates that the unit is in a defrost cycle. During this time, the compressor shuts off and the fan continues to run in order to thaw any ice that may have formed on the coils. This process typically lasts for 10-15 minutes before the unit resumes normal operation.
If the pause light continues to flash even after the defrost cycle is complete, it may indicate a problem with the unit's sensor or control board. In this case, it is recommended to consult the user manual or contact a professional for assistance with troubleshooting and repairs.

Have a dehumidifier, Delonghi DE500P. Unit operates but no water collecting in bucket.Level set to 35%. Can freon be added to recharge?

the short answer is yes , but id caution you on the need too first?

first check the basics:
bucket full lite not on (blinking)
filters clean ?
both fan and compressor inside running (sometimes the fan runs but the compressor does not?) listen carefull for them both?
if your unit needs recharged odds are it's not financial feasible to do so , first you have to fix cause of gas leaking out ? what ever that is ? then you need to add service ports and finally you need a gas charge , this would or could cost hundreds of dollars , a entire new unit is less 200 bucks unless you do all this work your self , but id tend to think if you had all the tools and knowledge to do that youd not of asked here in the first place

What diameter tubing is used with the Delonghi DE 500P pump

George, regular garden hose is what is generally used for continual drainage. Just don't exceed the maximum length of hose, that is listed in your Owners Manual. And, despite what they say about being able to pump water up thru abasement window, it really doesn't work that well. Unless the unit is right below the window,

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Den 500p dehumidifier fan works but compressor does no activate

Phil, it may simply be a case that you have the humidity extraction level set to high. Try lowering it to 32 - 35%. If your unit is not equipped with an LED Screen, set the manual control to Maximum.

Also, remove and check the air intake filter, to see if it needs cleaning. And maintain at least a minimum of 12 - 18" of clear air space around the entire unit, while in operation.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi,
There are many reasons for a dehumidifier2_bing.gif to not work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier2_bing.gif.

Thanks

I went back and rechecked. If the fan mode is selected, you can only set the fan at one of the three speeds. If you leave it in the fan mode, the dehumidifier will not come on.

Once the fan speed is selected, it will run at that speed in the dehumidifier mode. The fan will keep running, even when the dehumidifier (compressor) shuts down.

The only way to get it to turn off is to use the clock setting, which either selects how long it stands-by before starting , or how long it will run before going back to stand-by. DeLonghi calls it "stand-by," we would call it "off." DeLonghi calls unplugged "off."

I've never turned mine to stand-by, because it will never get my entire house down to 30% humidity (I have it where my air handler returns air to the basement). I live in the greater DC Metro area, where 75% humidity is considered extremely dry.

Apparently the normal mode of operation is fan on unless awaiting a clock start, or encountering a clock shut-down; either condition puts it into the "stand-by" mode.

DE 500P

This tube is likely related to the water pump out feature that these have. They have a pinch clamp on connections, perhaps your clamp is loose or misaligned.
