Can i connect to a cold water feed, i do not have a hot feed

I am assuming you can select water temperature on your machine. Simply hook up your pipe to the cold water feed on the machine, and leave the hot water feed alone. Always select cold water on the machine before beginning a load. If it makes you feel better, cap off the hot water inlet on the washing machine.

I have a leviton combination (2) switch... I want each switch to (naturally) operate (2) different lights - all (white) 4 neutrals are combo in a wire nut and feed is going to the right side top brass...

Don't break away the tab.
It sounds like you have Hot wire connected to wrong side of device.

Electricians don't guess, they test.
Separate wires. Turn power ON.
Test each wire to bare ground.
Tester lights up on Hot wire.

Hot connects to brass screw(s). This will feed power into each switch.
Wires going to Load (lights) connect to each silver screw.

When trying to weld, the feed wire gets red hot

There are loose connections and / or a short in the gun.
sounds like the gun is grounded, and the gun is welding the wire to itself.

Hot point aquarius 1100 - does this have a heating element for cold water feed ? or does is need direct hot water feed ? (there is a inlet at back for both hot and cold so presume no heating element ?)

All Hotpoint washers have heater element regardless of whether they are cold fill only, or hot and cold fill.
if 2 connections at rear, then it is hot and cold fill, if only 1 connection, then it is cold fill only.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Is it OK to attach a hot water feed rather than cold water.

All dishwashers are suppossed to be connected to hot water. Who connected yours to cold water and why? Doesn't make any sense. Definately change it over to hot water feed.

Is this hot or cold feed

This dishwasher should be connected to the hot water line under the sink. If it is connected to the cold line, you will have very poor cleaning. The hot water should be 120 degrees (F) minimum and less than 140 degrees.
