I started getting "Error 2123" recently, and spent A LOT of time searching for the fix. Here is what finally worked:

Find the hidden file "tracking.db3". It's in the hidden folder "ProgramData/Rosetta Stone" under the "C:" directory. Copy and paste it to the Rosetta Stone install directory (Program Files/Rosetta Stone).

Error 2123 should be gone, but now there will be Error 2125. So, in the Rosetta Stone install directory, run the "service_installer" .exe file by double-clicking it.

Error 9119 rosetta stone

When you install Rosetta Stone it puts its language files in a different folder. When you uninstall the program the language files are left intact and are never touched. If a problem occurs and one of the language files becomes corrupt and unreadable you're going to get that error 9119 every time when you try to re-install your language pack. Each language level has THOUSANDS of files in hundreds of sub-folders. Each file in those sub-folders has an hexadecimal name of 40 or more characters in length. So good luck trying to find the corrupt file(s). Also, because the file or files are corrupt, they can't be read or deleted. You're going to have to perform chkdsk on your hard drive to recover the bad sectors...eventually. The quickest and simplest way to fix your Rosetta Stone problem is to rename the folder where it puts its language files to something else. On an xp system the default name is "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Rosetta Stone". I changed mine to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Garbage Files". That way when Rosetta Stone goes to install its language files it will recreate the folder cleanly instead of trying to overwrite the old folder and its corrupt files. That will solve your problem. You can then run chkdsk at your leisure. Good luck and spread the word.

Create a security exception. 1. In ESET NOD32 (Smart Security 5), click Setup.
2. On the Setup screen, click Enter advanced setup... (bottom of screen).
3. On the Advanced setup screen, open Computer -> Antivirus and antispyware -> Exclusions.

5. Click OK on the Advanced setup screen.
Set the Rosetta Stone compatibility mode. 1. Right click the Rosetta Stone desktop icon or Start -> All programs -> Rosetta Stone.
2. Select Properties from the list.
3. Select the Compatibility tab.
4. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode box.
5. In the list below the check box, select the OS (in my case, Windows 7).
6. Click OK.

Loaded Start disc. When installing my language disc 1, I get an 9123 error code and a message " there was an error in the application". I cannot uninstall, because I get messages "...

Version 3/4: Error 9123 during Language CD installation

This error message relates to Version 3 and Version4. If you receive a 9123 error message during language installation, try one of the following resolutions:
  • Clean the disc with alcohol/windex/water and a soft cloth and try installing again.
  • Disable your internet security program, especially Norton or Symantec Security and try installing again.
