I have sound and part directions, eg "head to the airport", "take the turnoff to Wollongong" but it would only say to "take the next on the left 200 metres" rather than stipulating the name of the street.I have sound and part directions, eg "head to the airport", "take the turnoff to Wollongong" but it would only say to "take the next on the left 200 metres" rather than stipulating the name of the street.
I had to go into "change preferences", "change voice" "select voice" and select read aloud street names". So hopefully now I will not get lost as I cannot read a street directory, after all I am a woman and have to turn the street directory around!!!I had to go into "change preferences", "change voice" "select voice" and select read aloud street names". First you need to reset the tom tom by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds, it will restart itself, from there it should get passed the tom tom logo.
If it does not do the job, then you need to connect your gps to a computer, then back up the files then you restore the files back on it after formating the gps.
To know if your tomtom is fully charged. Unplug the tomtom from the power source and you will see the battery meter, if it is full or not, because while it is charging, it is the power source that is working so the battery signal will not come up. Unplug it and you will see the battery meter.
Hope this was able to solve the problem.
there are a couple of settings in preferences. One is "Fastest Route" which is highways the other is "shortest Route" which can be back streets. Change the default to either "Fastest" or, preferably, there is an option to get it to ask you each time
Not all sound files speak out the street names. If you would like to have the street names spoken, you need to select a voice that ends with computer. For example, the voice file selection: Simon, English UK, Computer will speak street names. But the voice file, Bonnie, English US, will not speak Street names. Dave, English US, computer will give you street names but Lori or Mandy, English US will not.Procedure to get the street names spoken: Tap on main screen. Tap on change preferences. Tap on arrow. Tap on change voices. Tap (select) a voice that ends with computer. Tap select. Tap done till you reach the main screen.
Have you selected an electronic voice? If you have a "standard" voice or have used a "celebrity" download voice, it won't give computed responses for street names. Go to voices, change voice and try a digital/electronic voice. If not installed, use TomTom home to download an electronic voice. Hope this helps
The solution was a hidden menu of options, there was no info provided on how to find it. When selecting the computor voice {on the device} keep pressing the selected voice and the menu of options will appear. Good Luck.
