Hi,
I've just been given a second hand Technics SL-B2 turntable, don't really know what I'm doing with it. I've had a go at using it but the stylus sort of skids across the record into the centre of the turntable. It does play a bit but jumps around alot. Have I set it up oddly or is something dead?

Depends what type of sockets these have. If the Pre-Amp has a RCA phono sockets you just need some RCA leads. I don't know if the Arcam Amp works with any pre-amp. But if it does, it's likely to have the same type sockets as the others. So you just buy another two RCA leads and connect it up.
try MCM electronics supply. (MCMelectronics.com) You might have to buy a kit of assorted belts or ten belts. MATelectronics is another supply house.(matelectronics.com) or google SL-B2 turntable belt.
Hi sounds like the cartridge or stylus are not seated correctly or at correct angle (cartridge). Also weight/balance and anti skate need adjustment. Try getting the manual and using that to set it up correctly - no easy task though as lotsa info there.... :) Manual for 1200 MK3 will do as well. Hope that helps
You need a belt.. Lift up the record support..(platter) Underneath you will see a metal post.. Belt goes around that and the bottom of the plate.(there is a rim) . If the belt is there, motor might be bad..
Use common sense when cleaning. Don' t use water. Instead I find Windex works well. Just spray enough to loosen up any dirt/grime build up. DO NOT OVERSOAK. And just wipe clean. There really is no real trick to cleaning these things.
Get yourself some cotton swabs, a can of air, and paper towels, and your all set.
