Hi, I have a 67 vespa with a fuel problem. I have pulled apart the carby and cleaned everything and put it back together. It does not seem to get fuel. I must kick it over several times with a little choke before it fires. I have drained, cleaned the fuel tank, line and fuel on off assembly. very frustrating !!!!!!!!!!!

You may have an underlying problem that your overhaul has missed but maybe a fast flow fuel tap could be the answer ? You don't state exactly which model you have but have a look here http://beedspeed.com/product_info.php?products_id=8958

I have a modified yahmaha enticer it does not start at all it has good spark and compression and it ran up untill this weekend end Itook the carb off and cleaned it so now it won't start

hi there when you say you cleaned the carby did you pull it all apart or was it a wash and air hose clean,i am not sure of what type of carby on the bike but most problems are similar if it is a cv carbi then you have not put the cap on top right and the rubber diaphram is not sealing for vacum,or you have dislodged something that has gone into your starter jets wich you need to take off again and check, but before you do that undo the carbi bowl screw and see if there is fuel coming out if there isnot then the needle and seat is jammed agin take carby off and inspect if there is no fuel coming out,but first of all i would check to see if you have the vacume hoses in the right place or on even. hope this helps cheers

Take the carburetor apart again. Check that the needle assembly is still connected to the float and recheck that the jet is seated properly.

I have a poulan pro self propelled mower that is not running smoothly. The motor speeds up and slows down and it seems like it is going to die. I replaced the spark plug, cleaned the air filter and put...

Hi, your problem is caused by a fuel starvation issue. Remove the carby, disassemble, remove all jets and blow them out with compressed air. Put it all back together exactly as it came apart. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

Kneed to clean my air filter and valves on my vespa p.x.125

Hi there! 1st: Your PX125 vespa is a 2T engine, and has no valves on it. Can you be a bit more specific on what you mean as valves?
2nd: The air filter cleaning is a very easy operation to accomplish:
1: take out your engine cover 2: remove two screws to free carb top case 3: remove two screws holding the air filter. Notice these are the outside screws, leave the middle big screw like it is, because it controls the idle speed. 4: clean your airfilter with clean gasoline or specific carb cleaner liquid... gas works better for me ;) 5: backwards steps to put everything back together. Don't forget to inspect if the air filter has no holes and everything looks ok :)
Hope you like this little walkthrough, and don't forget to leave me a good thumbs up review :) I would really appreciate it! :D Regards, Sergio

Ryobi plt 3043yw, wont start. has new carbie kit & new spark plug

Hey www_mike350,

Just fixed my Ryobi 3043YW. I got this given to me not working and didnt even need it. I already have one. I decided to have a look over it, see if I could get it going.

To my surprise everything looked clean. I checked for spark, that was good, compression seemed good. I took the spark plug out and tipped some fuel in the cylinder, put the plug back in and tried to start it.

If it started I would have suspected the carby, but it still didnt start.

I was really annoyed because everything looked clean but it still wouldnt start. There was fuel, spark and compression, I didnt know what else could make this thing not start.

I pulled it completely apart and found the rotor assembly was the problem. It was causing a timing issue, meaning that it was sparking at the wrong times, when there was no gas in the cylinder.

On the inside of the rotor is a pin or a key that lines up on the shaft and gives the spark its timing. That key was made of cast iron and had broken off, causing the rotor to spin on the shaft out of alignment. This through the timing out.

I lined it up and tightened it and its working again. I couldnt believe it when it started, I have spent hours on this thing.

I will have to try and replace the rotor (Part no. 300952001), otherwise it will slip on the shaft again sooner or later and do the same thing.

Unfortunately I need to replace the gaskets too now as most came apart when I was pulling it apart.

Hope that helps someone out there!

Daewoo Lanos 1999 Not starting

Usually this is because the carburettor dries out and there is a needle and seat (internal on carby) that can get stuck and not let fuel in. Usually from a little dust water and general **** that comes with the fuel. Id spray the carby out with carby cleaner, remove the fuel line from it and spray out the fuel bowl. Possibly even open up the carby and completely clean it, but only if you are confident on putting it back together. But try just spraying it and cleaning it first, then tip probably a quarter (1/4) of a cup of petrol in the hole in the carby and try starting it, this should make it run. Maybe a little rough at first, but you may need to clean the carby a couple of times, and will need to pump fresh fuel from the tank. So good luck and hope it helps.

Chainsaw loses power

Martyn, It sounds like you have Carby problems. Try squirting some carby cleaner down into carby where ever you can reach with the spray, if this does not fix it, you will need to remove the carby & take it apart, clean it all really well, then put it back together, whilst you have it apart, check that the inlet needle is not grooved, if it is grooved, you'll need to replace it. Good Luck. Stevo.
