My Canon Powershot G9 rechargeable lithium battery that is built into the camera ( not the battery pack) is not recharging and it is emptying my battery pack NB-2LH very quickly even without using my camera. I always have to set the date/hour up.Example: If I keep a full charged battery pack on a table and I test it many days after, it is still full charge. If I put the same battery in my camera, 2-3 days after my battery is half charged and this without using the camera (camera off).
It sounds more like the camera has a short which is what would more commonly drain a battery. There's a common issue as you're describing on the G9 for this exact issue.
