Hi My Brother MFC-9840CDW is printing pages with too much orange on the left side of the page. This effect sometimes affects only the left margin other times it spreads across most of the page. On a large print run each individual page has varying degrees of this effect. I recently change the toner cartridges for Inkrite branded ones and ie prior to the problem arising and now the printer tells me that the yellow cartridge is empty well short of the promised 5000 pages.

I contacted the Brother site, the support function there. Pursuant to what I found there, I unplugged the printer for ten seconds and replugged. The message display then told me that cyan was empty, and that magenta was near empty.
I installed a new cartridge in place of the empty cyan, and that fixed it.

Replacing the drum usually solves this problem.

The print head is clogged. If not unclogging with cleaning process may you try to clean manualy. You need to dissasembly the hole printer to remove the print head.Put it in hot water. If you don't have a technical skills, don't try anything.
If not help just buy new printer, because the new print head will cost you as much more.

Sometimes just a static shock can do that, you need to replace the control panel pcb to fix it.
