My computer was working fine until recently I noticed I am getting 'no signal" when I tried to use it with my computer. It happend when I shift to off screen on my computer. I tried to revert back to on screen but could not. I am not able to get any computer signal since then. I am using a dell vostro 1000 vista laptop. Sometime earlier the same thing happend while using computer 1 input. I was only able to use computer 2. Now it also is gone.

Usually means that the computer is not sending a signal out the the projector via the monitor cable. Most Windows based laptop computers allow you to connect to a second monitor by pressing the Fn + F7 or F8 key, once to allow just the projector, twice to allow both the projector and laptop screen and three times back to only the laptop.

Why a black screen on xps l701x w7 i7 1.73

Black screen - no flashing white cursor in the upper left corner - no picture at all, i.e. the initial Dell start-up screen doesn't show up either:
- LCD is dead or isn't getting a signal - not an easy fix; or
- the LCD isn't being sent a signal - holding down the function [Fn] key and press display Function key to toggle through its settings (LCD panel only, Rear VGA output only, both LCD and VGA output)

Black screen - flashing white cursor in the upper left corner - the screen goes black after the windows loading screens come up but before the windows login screen comes up - it is probably a windows video driver problem. Try starting in Windows Safe Mode with VGA. Press [F8] after the Dell startup screen disappears to access the windows startup menu

I have a Hitachi LCD projector model No. CP-RX70. When I connect with my laptop (Compaque) and start both then only starting window XP message appears through projector and laptop works normally but again...

The setup is not correct. Check the requirements of the projector, (size, refresh rates etc.) and set the laptop up accordingly.
You will se the XP Screen because the laptop hasn't loaded any drivers yet and the screen is low resolution.
Hope that helps.

I have a Hitachi CP-L500 LCD projector. It is connected to my laptop from the svga projector port to the svga port on the the laptop. It is making no signal connection. I have made sure the input button...

I am not familiar with your Hitachi LCD projector . However , I do have a little knowledge regarding video signals and inputs / outputs as well as connections . If your connecting cable is one piece (has no adapters added to either end of it ) I would believe your problem is simply a settings misconfiguration in your projector / computer , or both . First , access your startup BIOS / CMOS settings during the initial booting sequence in your computer by pressing F1 or whichever keys you press when you turn the computer on to access it . Then , in the advanced list , check your primary video input selection to be sure it is default. Then, once the computer is completely booted and you can click on your start selection , go to your video settings and check how to switch between internal and external display options . I say this because it is important that you are able to reroute your video signal to your SVGA Out from the laptop (for sure) and it is in fact in that video output mode. Once you're sure you have a signal going out of laptop through that port , go to your projector video input selections menu and select each and every input option available until the signal comes through . This will only work if you're absolutely 100% sure that your video signal is in fact leaving the laptop via the SVGA port connection .

If you are connecting to a laptop then you may need to hold the function button down and press F1, F2, F3 etc. there should be a sign with the latop on there and a sign with an external device (monitor,PROJECOR)
hope this information was useful to you.

N o signal

Hi momawarbucks

Check if your secondary screen is attached by going to desktop and right click , then go to properties and advanced.

Also check if your refresh rate is on 60-70 Hz

And that the resolution your PC is on , is supported by your Projector - i.e. XGA Projector - 1024x768

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya !
