Foot pedal We had to rebuild an XP laptop and after re-installing the dss 4000 software the foot pedal isn't working. Is there something else we need to install?

  • Anonymous Nov 11, 2008

I have the same problem and I have loaded the correct disc and it still is not working. Any suggestions on what else I can do to make it work?

    Thanks,

Make sure you are installing the Transcription version of the software not the Dictation version (Transcription version serial number starts with RTM and dictation starts with RDM). The foot pedal will not work with the dictation version of the software.

Software not compatible with Vista

Try running in compatibility mode for the program. Go to the program thru Start menu, then right-click. There you will see the compatibility mode Tab or choose properties.

RS-25 & RS-27 Foot Pedal not working with Vista x64

I had the exact same problem. Per Olympus you have to buy the RS 27 foot pedal. It IS compatible with Vista 64bit. RS 25 which is what I have IS NOT compatible with Vista 64bit.
Cheapest I found online is $43+ shipping for RS 27 foot pedal.
There is a free upgrade to DSS Player 7 on Olympus website that you will have to do for it to work with RS 27 foot pedal.

RS-25 foot pedal not working

The foot pedal needs to be plugged in before the software is installed. Just uninstall the software (your files will be fine) and reinstall with foot pedal attached.

Olympus Foot Pedal RS25

The RS25 is compatible. The problem is the driver is not installed automatically. It can be found in the tools folder on the CD.

Foot switch will not respond.

The answer is all in the serial number you use to install the DSS player!

Look carefully and you will see the recorder disk has in my case an [E] printed above the install serial number and the transcription pedal has [T]

Install the same disk with the E the driver is there, the control in Control Panel is there, but the foot switch does not work with the software. Put in the serial number with the [T] and foot switch works first time!

If you uninstall the play and then reinstall with the [T] serial number you do not need to reboot or even unplug the foot switch from the USB.

Driver Issues

My dictation pedal for the Olympus AS-4000 used to work on windows XP, but I upgraded to windows Vista and and the foot pedal no longer works. I have tried it on another XP machine and it works fine, so it can't be the foot pedal.

I have downloaded a patch from the internet, but unfortunately this does not seem to have resolved the issue.

I have contacted olympus twice and they have been very unhelpful.
