Musical fidelity amp x-a2, one channel intermittent crackling / fading out, any ideas?! Tried swapping source and speakers... Many thanks -chris

hi,
This problem will occur when any one of the driver transistor is become faulty. You have to replace all the driver transistor of the same channel which make cracking sound . It is very difficult to tell which one is faulty. Because if you check the transistors with multimeter it will be ok. Replace all the driver transistor in that channel with same part number marked on it. The driver transistors will look like this,

Pioneer pdp-425cmx does not turn on, when power is switched on you hear some clicks from the back then after about 10 seconds the power indicator will go green for about 3 seconds but then turns solid red,...

It may be of faulty Transistor. Here in your case the switching is not happening. Try to replace the transistor and power IC in the SMPS section. Check the transistor pin voltage to find out whether it is faulty. The Capacitor got bulged because of over voltage. The faulty component will be near by the bulged capacitor.

I have a Pmp5000 889406987784 Eurowpower PMP5000 1200-Watt 20-Channel Mixer and Speaker Output A has no output. What has happened?

Usual problem is the Channel A amplifier has burned and blown the switching transistors. Usually an internal board arc occurs and unless very skilled at board work of clearing the burned area and replacing the components you are better to replace the HCA2400 amplifier module... about $160

Tv not switching on just makin noise from power supply & hissing @ the flyback transformer with horizontal becoming extremly hot then afew min later horizontal burns out(D1398)

If the horizontal transistor getting shorted, this could happen.
Check the transistor 2 SD1398. If found faulty replace it.
But replace black colored doides in the circuit as a whole.
Leaky diodes can not be determined easily with the multi meter.
Especialy the small high voltage diode near the small transformer
connected to the 2 SD1368 transistor.

Subwoofer stops working after about an hour's use. Authorized repair technician could find nothing wrong.

In case of a transistor which is faulty, could short the power supply in circuitry, and this happens after the transistor gets heated up. So you might wanna inspect the transistors on board to replace if found faulty.

Display color changed from green/ white now to Red and blue?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Your described problem is as you suspected, the green is missing. This is a common failure and is technically an easy/quick repair. Almost always, the culprit would be a cold solder or a faulty color drive transistor/IC. They would be located on the small squarish PCB (printed circuit board) at the very rear of the tube. Of course, worst case scenario would be a faulty CRT (picture tube), but that would be least likely.

Corrective measure would then be initially re-soldering above describe solder joints and/or replacing faulty transistor/IC.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Picture quality is bad

it sounds like your green gun is faulty or a faulty colour drive, a transistor on the back of your CRT board also check for dry solder joints.

TV went black - Please wait message...

I think you both have faults on the line output stage of your tv either the line output transistor has become faulty or the line output transformer itself has become faulty. If you are able to check this for yourself otherwise find a competant technician. Hope this helps.
