After looking online, and finding no definitive answers to this problem, I took the plunge, and did it myself, and now have a working player. Take the bottom cover off the cdj, you're now looking at the main motherboard marked 'DWX2303 MAIN', cast your eyes up to the top of the board where it is marked 'CAUTION' and 'ATTENTION', now look slightly down diagonally left, and now you'll see six black components in a rough line, immediately below the white ribbon cable connector. These components are half round, black, with a straight edge, and look like three pin transistors, but are in fact IC voltage protectors, and have only two legs. They are labelled on the circuit board as 'IC101 to IC106' respectively. The one that had failed on mine is labelled up on the circuit board as 'IC106 ICP-N10'.
By placing mutimeter probes across the legs, and testing for continuity you'll find the failed one(open circuit=fail).
It seems this is quite a common failure on these players, but happily, replacement IC protectors can be found on ebay for about £12.00.

Sound has died on cdj1000

Does absolutely every other function / light / switch etc etc work ok?, If so then the 1st place I'd look would be the output phono connectors and the circuit board they are soldered to, I would be looking for dry joints and cracks where the sockets are mounted

I have a CDJ1000 MK2 which powers up but the main display nor the jog dial display power on and no sound. The buttons do work though. When I press the forward button I see the cd lens moving. Has anyone...

removed top cover and there is a power supply that you will see on the top left side of the main chassic, check f1 fuse as that may be bad.The complete power supply board part number is DWR1344

Pioneer cdj 800 mk2 playing mp3s, jogwheel & screen dont work

More than likely the contact pad (aka Membrane pad) is probably damaged... or the flat cable which connects to the main processor, might be loose, or damaged.

You'll need to get this professionally checked out by a qualified technician. It's not an easy fix.

CDJ1000 MK2 Powers up but no display & no sound

Had the sam problem... Turn te player upside down, take off the bottom cover and check the semiconductor fuses located near the supply connector on the top of mainboard. The one that is responsible for display is marked as VLOD (-40V). Worked for me :)
