Try setting the camera to the 'M' manual mode and remove the lens. See if the shutter will fire and complete the cycle. You should have a memory card installed or have the menu set to 'No CF card'. If the shutter does fire, then re-mount the lens and return the mode to 'P'. If it does not fire the shutter, then it is likely the there is a malfunction with the mirror box components (a broken spring). That type of repair is not a DIY and will require a complete dis-assembly of the camera.

Does the Nikon AF 70-300mm f4-5.6G Lens work with the Nikon D3100?

Yes, as long sa the lens can fit the bayonet. But it can't focus, because there are no AF motors in Nikon D3100 and AF 70-300mm f / 4-5.6 - G. And Nikon lens with AF is without AF motor. Lens marked with AF-S have focusing motor

Nikon 24-120mm G ED VR

Could you confirm that this is a G lens (without an aperture ring)? If so, try cleaning the electrical contacts on the back of the lens and in the lens mount on the camera.

Problems using Nikkor AF 35-70mm F3.3-4.5 with Nikon D80?

The sensor on the D80 is smaller than a piece of 35mm film. This means the camera will only use the center portion of the image cast by the lens. This reduces the angle of view, effectively increasing the focal length. The 35-70mm will give you an angle of view similar to a 52-105mm lens on a film camera. Likewise the 70-210mm lens will give you an angle of view similar to a 105-315mm lens.

hiyou first distinguish what it cause. I suggest separate body and lens. Please enable without memory card.( remove memory card), Set to Bulb speed on Mode. Press hold and see front of camera, you should see mirror up and shutter curtain fully open inside ccd image sensor surface. Release shutter button. See what error message come out.

Hi my nikon d40x displays this message :ERROR.PRESS SHUTTER RELEASE BUTTON AGAIN. I can use menus and view saved pictures in my SD card. but cant capture picture anymore

Sounds like a dead mirror box motor to me. This is a well know problem with the D40 and D40x. It has to be replaced. You will have to give it to a Nikon service center or any camera repair shop to replace it. I could offer it for $95.00, but you would have to send it to Germany.

Will a Nikon Sigma 70-210 work on my nikon D60??

Assuming the lens has a Nikon mount, then it will fit and work on the D60. Sigma makes lenses for a variety of cameras; a lens with a Canon mount, for example, will not fit onto a Nikon camera. However, the 70-210 is a rather old lens. Unless it specifies "HSM" it will not autofocus on the D60. The D60 does not have an autofocus motor, relying on the lens to have one. Nikon calls such lenses "AF-S" while Sigma designates theirs "HSM".

Yes, it will fit. However, lacking a focus motor, it will not autofocus on the D40.

Just inherited a Nikon F100. When the shutter is

Here's the usermanual:
http://safemanuals.com/annexe_INSTRUCTION%20MANUAL_NIKON_F100-_E.htm

on page 101 (Troubleshooting) it mentions the Err message, and the shutter again to release it - According to the guide its a Refer Nikon Service Centre issue.

From how you describe it, it is consistent with there being a problem with lens compatibility. It would be worth checking compatibility (with the chart on pages 32 - 33) - Although if you inherited it "as a unit" I doubt thats the root cause..

Hope this helps

Error Message

Try to take off the battery and reset the camera. You can also try to remove the lens and check the mirror opening..see if there is some thing stuck there. You can try to click the shutter while the lens is removed. If this procedure didn't work I suggest calling Nikon for further repairs.

Stuck shutter D100 Nikon

The R06 is the buffer indication, not part of the error. It would appear more work is required. Other components may have failed, or the shutter itself may be bad.

I'm afraid this one is not a DIY. Nikon is pricey on repairs, you may fair better checking the repair service search here on Fixya.
