Go to printer properties and check whether you have selected print in grey mode and also check whether you have selected the economic mode. Rectify the same will solve your problem.

Perhaps you have a worn-out imaging unit; it's the assembly that holds the toner. It needs to be replaced after 18-20 thousand copies. It is quite expensive. For the same price I bought a clx-2160 printer which uses the same unit and toner. I moved the 2160 unit and toner to the 3160, it took 2 minutes. Instantly I got back the original sharpness and colour quality. And as other parts wore out in the 3160, I have replaced them with the same parts from the 2160 (it's basically a 3160 without a scanner or fax).

SOURCE: i have a samsung clx-3160fn printer. All toners

Try printing the demo page, there's a man on there with a black tuxedo. If you see snowflakes on the black suit, you need a new hi voltage power supply circuit board. Also most of the generic toners don't work well in this machine.

I just replaced my black toner on my samsung clx-3160fn printer. When I print the black quality is still bad. I made sure everything is in correctly and tight. What could the problem be?

The problem is not a shortage of the toner -- it's either a dirty drum or some other problem. Either way, it's nothing that you can fix by yourself -- take the printer to a qualified technician for proper servicing. Or, just responsibly recycle the printer, and buy a new one.

Fine horizontal dashes in black have begun appearing all over the pages whether I print in b&w or color. This gets worse with each page in a long document. Samsung CLX-3160.

Your problem is the black toner cartridge pickup drum has become scratched and is depositing "extra" black toner onto the paper prior to the fuser roller. you need to replace the drum and all should be ok then

Samsung clx-3160fn won't print

Usually I've seen that happen when you use generic toners. There are 4 toner clutches down the right side, with the right cover off you can see which clutch is doing the grinding. Many of the generics are overfilled and hard to turn and will make the noise until you loosen them by hand turning them til they loosen up, or just replacing.
