My culligan water softner just keeps running .

This system should be under warranty still. If it is running to drain constantly bypass the system and call Culligan for service. Unplug it for 2 minutes and it may reset.

Unless the softener was bypassed when the water heater went in, installing a water heater has no bearing on the softener working or not. Is it unplugged?

Hi,
Water softners will remove approx. 90% of the iron from the water...if this is acceptable then you are okay with the Culligan...if not then you will also have to install an iron removal system in addition to the softner.
Also check around with your local plumbers, as many will install a water softner at a gereatly reduced cost from what the franchises will charge you...and they have just as good a systems and often do a much better installation job.

It is running to drain. The sealpack (main piston & sealpack are one unit) is bad and needs to be replaced. If you are handy you can do this yourself. There is a retrofit kit to help repair these issues. It is only available at Culligan. It is about $10.

Your line running from the softener has an air leak, inspect your connections, redo them to ensure sealing

Check the units drain filter. If clogged up it will make this unit run constantly

Try cleaning the filter screen under the metal cover plate. Also check your water supply pressure. Some softeners won't run properly on low pressure.

sometimes the heads go bad on those and they get stuck in a regeneration cycle that just flushes the tank out. put it on bypass or call your softner maker and alot of times they will help you diagnose it and send you replacement parts. also some of the softner heads use small electric motors that get siezed as well

The flow packs are not opening properly. There may a restriction in the lines feeding the flow packs or the springs/ diaphrams may be bad. I suggest replacing both flow packs and making sure all lines feeding flow packs are free of oxidized iron and debris.

the unit number one needs to be reprogrammed by a professional only it is tricky and ck the motor in the unit this controls the valves turning and water direction control.
