What kind of system are you on? Some older computers BIOS will not support more than 1 or 2 gb ram. Check the specifications of your motherboard to ensure your BIOS can see that memory.
goto the ACER website, i use the exact same laptop, they provide all the drivers for Windows Xp Home/Pro Vista HB,HP,B,U both x64 and x86
Depending on your operating system, is what drivers you need, linux drivers are not provided.
The problem is that you are searching AMD for a Gateway driver. They have proprietary BIOS which AMD will not recognize so get the drivers here: http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/1015332R/1015332Rnv.shtml
