Battery is less than 1 yr old but will not hold a charge.Suspect 'clock' in battery is preventing full re-charge Can the battery be discharged fully to enable it to be re-charged properly, if so how?
All you can do is to leave the battery out for a few days or longer. It will completely drain and then you can try charging it back up again. Im suspecting that the battery is starting to go bad anyway but at least this way you can verify this. If it still doesn't charge completely then the battery needs to be replaced.
There were several recalls on Compaq's ac adapters and batteries that caused fire to units...

I would also check with compaq about your problem. They were replacing and repairing the units free of charge due to the defects. I would check with them
Hope this helps you
