Web cam My web cam works but not on msn?

    Hi there I have a logitech 10.4 cam It is receiving on skype but will not work in msn . It did before and now suddenly stopped. I reinstalled the cam and did many updates on cam and msn but to no avail it is so frustrating I need it to work .It takes pic and video fine and I checked it has all the drivers and it is allowed in my security setting which have always been the same avg and z alarm. I did try with Z alarm closed but still not luck as I thought the firewall was the issue suddenly but still no luck in the avg. Please help

Hello,
i have solution for this question but only for msn.........i dont use skype messenger.........so first u install software of logitech properly in u r comp then open windows live messenger........click the tools>audio and video setup..then press next n then select ur cam logitech quick cam pro 9000.....n then u see ur pic on that box..then finish it.......now try use it it will work......

This is purely an application conflict issue between Skype and LifeCam program. The video cam driver always attached to the LifeCam apps everytime you launch Skype, LifeCam tray that is part of the application always open and this cause a conflict. There are no option to separate it or make the Skype as default application, or vice versa, to use solely for the video cam. There is a MSCamSvc in system services that needs to run, this services will not run if LifeCam application is not installed. It can possibly work if you can install the LifeCam "driver only" without the application.

Web Camera’s have to besetup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up tobroadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order forthe Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able tosee and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.

Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on " "Show Menus." And then click on "Show the Menu Bar".

Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on " "Action."

Go to "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.

NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.



D. AIM (AOL) Messenger:

On the VIM sign-in window, click on Edit.

Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.

Next click on Enhanced IM.

Then click on Audio Video.

The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.

The Audi Video drop downs are

Microphone

Speaker

Camera

The audio and camera should function now.

Additional information to use with VIM settings.

Adjust Your Audio and Video Settings:

In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:

1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently

Participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM

Conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.

2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working

Properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.

Notes:

The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button.

The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly.

images in AOL Live Video IM may appear reversed, or as a mirror image (text may appear backwards) when you look at your own camera feed or at the

Picture-in-picture (PIP) display.

My dells webcam wont work on msn,

If the web cam is working normally with other web cam applications but MSN then it's required to configure MSN to use the web cam. Please follow the steps given below to configure MSN to use the web cam.

(i) Please ensure that the web cam is turned ON.
(ii) Then, double click the MSN icon and log on.
(iii) Click on the Tools menu, then click on the audio/video tuning wizard. Then, click Next to start the wizard.
(iv) On the first wizard page, under Camera, click the web cam then click Next.

Performing all the above steps will configure MSN to use with the web cam.
In order to start a video conversation, follow the steps given below after signing in MSN:
(a) Click Action, then point to audio/video.
(b) Then, click start a video conversation.
(c) Select a contact from "My contacts" page then OK.

You need to install the latest Adobe Flash software for the cam to work on MSN, just install it and start your cam up with MSN and your away.

reinstall the drivers that came with the cam, if the problem still exists check your msn and windows live settings, this should fix the problem

In msn live click on show menu then tools option for cam setup
If that don't work click again show menu then actions then video then show my webcam or start video conversation.
If taht does'nt work then I would assume it's something in your camera setup itself

open up msn to a full page and click on web cam settings and select your cam and WORKS whoop whoop !!
