Display tells me to close the door when it is already closed

Hello, Did the technician ask about any error codes in display?
For Example the number 2 from the center picture on display ( the picture of machine) or by pressing and holding the * (star) key on number pad show 2 numbers with the second being 817 in the red number area?
When the door is closed there is a one inch thin piece that gets inserted into a slot that activates a switch proving the door is closed..
There several resets you can try - holding down reset while powering on machine, Holding down just the "print position" left and right arrow keys (not the center) . and powering on equipment then typing "94" and then press start key. Note press clear if any numbers show up before hand.
If no results the part on door has broken or the switch is out of position to activate correctly,

have the wires checked to that door and also have the accuator checked out probly a bad switch on the motor telling it the door is not closed and its tring to close it

GENERALLY THERE IS A PIN ON THE FRONT DOOR THAT BREAKS AND WILL NOT TRIGGER THE SWITCH TELLING THE COPIER THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. yOU WILL HAVE TO LOOK VERY CAREFULLY AT THE MACHINE WITH THE DOOR OPEN AND LOOK FOR AN OPENING THAT WOULD ALLOW AN ACTUATOR OR PIN TO GO IN ( USUALLY LOOKS LIKE A SLOT). TAKE AND PUSH INWARD WITH A NAIL FILE OR SOMETHING OF THE SORT WITH THE MACHINE ON AND IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM, THE MACHINE WILL POWER UP. SUPERGLUE SOMETHNG IN PLACE TO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE PIN ON THE DOOR. GOD BLESS, HOPE THIS HELPS.

door switch

The "door" is telling you the door is not properly closed or a switch or two is not working properly. Start troubleshooting with the door switches. One of them is a monitor and is normally closed and opens when the door is closed. it will blow the fuse if it does not open before the other switches close. Very short time frame.

On Canon copiers the close front door can be caused by other doors besides the front door.Try the fuser door an the left and the vertical transport door.Good Luck

Check your buttons, levers, that are pushed in when door is closed, at your door posts. Use your thumb or finger and watch interior light go on & off as you push them in. If light flickers when in all the way, you found the bad switch. If they work o.k., check and see if maybe your door striker where door latch locks onto, needs adjusted in slightly to keep door tighter. Usually you can tell that if the door doesn't line up good when closed, with other door or rest of body. It will be sticking out slightly further.

You have a problem with the door alignment and the door switch.. The slightest movement triggers the door switch. You should have someone look at what is causing this issue.

take the top cover off and then the left and the right side.
look on the left you will see the door position switches. these most likely need replacing. easy job to do
