My Montgomery Wards big floor type demumidifier

My Montgomery Wards big Brown floor type demumidifier runs but won't collect water, it is over 10 years old BUT we don't use it only when there is terrible storms and the basement floods. I am at work but don't have the model number with me.

If your dehumidifier doesn't seem to run often but the humidity in the room is high, try adjusting the humidistat control on the dehumidifier to a dryer setting. If the dehumidifier seems to run constantly, but there's little or no water in the container, there may be a problem in the refrigeration system. Try cleaning the unit. If that doesn't work, you can't repair the refrigeration system yourself, you need a qualified appliance repair technician to do that.

DH504EL Unit runs but does not collect water

Demumidifiers are small air comdition units with heaters. Without the change of temp they won't work. Units are often neglected and get pluged up so clean and test the air flow. The filter slowes the air speed down for the process to work properly. Finally the units run better if balanced but slightly tipped twards the drip side. You may need a bigger unit the compresser should cycle (it needs to turn off once in a while)

No water collecting, unit running

the collector base under the tubes just collects water and drips it through a hole into the water bucket. there must be a loose hose(if it has one) or the base collector or bucket has a crack, as they usually are plastic. also if the unit is sitting on a very uneven floor this will happen

Unit runs but water collects on the floor

The drain hole within the unit is most likely plugged up with an accumulation of crud. (Common problem). Depending on the make/model, you may be able to access that drain hole by simply removing the collection bucket. If not, then unplug the unit and remove the housing to gain access to the internal drain.

My dehumidifier does not collect any water.

One of two things is happening here.

1. Either the compressor isn't running or...

2. The water is not being routed to the collection bucket properly. This dehumidifier has an option to connect to a hose that can be routed to a drain. Look in the back of the unit to see if you see a connection that could accomidate a garden hose. If you see this and there is no hose connected you may be dumping the water on the floor instead of the bucket. This could explain why your carpets are damp.

Water dripping outside the collector

I think that there is a 90 degree bend in the outlet on the bottom right front side of the collection tray that gets pluged with dirt, line etc. You can see this when you remove the collection container from the unit. I used a small piece of wire to clean out the hole and now the water goes into the tank and not onto the floor.
