YELLOW SPOT ON SCREEN

WHEN IMAGE IS PROJECTED ONTO THE SCREEN THERE IS A YELLOW SPOT TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF THE IMAGE. I WIPED THE FRONT LENS BUT IT DID NOT GO AWAY. COULD IT BE BURNED ON THE INSIDE BULB OR SOMETHING?

I also have a large yellow area in the centre of my projected image. I would appreciate any advise abouit this problem

I also have the yellow spot. The image/spot has a clearly defined and sharp margin, and seems to be some sort of geometric shape (ie - not a round dot). I removed the bult and examined it and it appears to be perfect - no burn in or marks of yellow detected on the lens. I'm suspecting the prism or LCD next but don't know how to examine these...

I'm an electronics eng. techn by training. I have the same problem. This is not DUST, or a SMUDGE. It is a pixel problem as the problem "speck" is geometric and is exactly in the place of the pixel realestate. It is yellow too. I imagine that this is a defect with the individual transmission via the pixel transister driver. I have taken mine apart and determined that this is in the core of the image driver. It would appear a design flaw and, apparently, common with this model of Sony projector. The only way to fix this with out spending $1,500 (yes, no sh#@!) is to go after Sony as a collective and make big big big NOISE!

There may be a dust fleck on one of the LCD screens inside your projector. I had a similar problem and managed to clean it. But it requires you to dissassemble the entire projector !!!. If you are not technical, don't do this yourself. !!!

no you cannot remove, you have to change the screen inside the monitor. the spot cause burn on the screen picture.

I have a Hitachi 50v710 it has a yellow tint in the middle of the screen can this be fixed thanks

This tv is an LCD projection one. in it the image is generated this way: a bulb makes the light; this light is divided then passed thru 3 small LCD screens; the 3 pure color images are mixed together by a prism then passes thru a set of fine plastic lenses (this is called the optical engine) ; from there the final image is projected on a screen.
The entire image quality is determined by the quality of the optical engine - if something goes wrong with it it's clearly visible on the screen. In your case the heat of the bulb has deformed the first lens, and that has caused optical aberration - color shifting.
This is fixable, the optical engine will have to be replaced - you can't replace just a single lens, it's a sealed unit. Unfortunately it's not a practical solution: a new optical engine will cost you over $800.
Use the tv as is until you can save enough for a new one.

Epson projector has yellow circle in middle of image, as if the lamp has caused something (lens maybe) to become yellow.

Probably had too high wattage bulb and basically, it burned the lens cover. Remove the old lens and "project" to see if the yellow circle is projected. Iif so, purchase a new lens cover.

No to your question. The lens is fixed it cannot shift horizontally only although there are projectors that can do this. I am sure you have the front foot retracted? I have had to do the same as you are doing or find a lower table.

Large dot in the middle of the projected display

there is a burned-in spot on the polerizer light filter for the blue lcd. it makes sure the light is blue coming through, that's why it is black on a blue screen, and yellow when the red and green are the only light showing through. it needs to be replaced. pat # PFiLW0213CEZZ.

My NEC VT465 shows a transparent yellow spot in the middle of the projected image.

I lent mine to a friend and it came back with this same problem - my guess is they wiped the lens with a solvent that messed up the lens coating the only solution is to get a new lens

Image problem

IF I understand the problem from the limited info in your question, the problem is a distorted picture on whatever surface [probably a wall, or screen] onto which the image is projected.

With all lenses, the axis [centerline of the lens projected] MUST be absolutely PERPENDICULAR [in both the vertical and horizontal planes] to the perfectly plane [flat] surface onto which the image is projected.

IF for example, the projector is mounted in a rear corner of the room, and the camera is aimed downward and to one side to project the image on the center of the opposite wall, or a screen located there, the image will be distorted. It will be larger on one edge [fartherist from the lens] and smaller on the opposite [nearest] edge.

If it is non-perpendicular in only one axis, then two opposite edges will be different lengths, and if out of perpendicular in two axis then no edges will be the same length.

The solution to this problem is that the center axis of the lens must be perpendicular to the surface projected on, in both vertical and horizontal axis.

Sharp notevision xgnv6xu oval yellow spot

I have a similar issue with yellow pattern on the left and top right of my screen. Took it apart and found the blue lcd had damage that matched the yellow area that was projected. I thought it was the lens but it was the blue lcd .It has gone bad and no replacement. Are you interested in selling the bulb or the whole projector? I have since purchased another projector and am keeping the bad one for spare parts. Hope this helps..Ben

Yellow area in the projected image

Hello Media Man,

Looks like your projector has done it. Thats acommon trouble to ageing polirising lens, usually the blue. less blue, the green and red make up the yellowish image on the screen. The blue is bombarded with tremendous heat from the lamp and it fade and wash out. If its free, its worth replacing. Get quote for the poliriser; 2 pieces each color.
