Install cartridge message displaying on my machine
I replaced the cartridge on my canon d320 copier and it is displaying "install cartridge" still. I have tried to reset it and install it again. What else can I check?

When your cartridge is not adjust properly.
install your old cartridge.If this massage again may be your machine .Right side drum charge lock not adjust.Or machine ready so problem on cartridge.

The cartridge installation error is displayed on the Canon PC-D320 printer when the cartridges are not installed properly. Glance through the steps below to resolve the issue.
1) Power up the printer and remove the ink cartridge from the printer.
2) Shut off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the power source.
3) Reconnect the power cord to the printer and power source after a few seconds.
4) Load the ink cartridges into the printer again and wait until the initialization completes.
5 )If the error code appears again, repeat the above steps.
6) If you have installed the cartridges properly but are unable to print, the printer will display an error code.
7) Open the front cover on the printer and wait until the print head moves to the left.
8) shut off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
9) Remove the ink cartridge by pressing the clips on the sides.
10) Remove the felt pads in the platen waste ink absorber under the ink cartridge holder.
11) Rinse the pads and dry them using paper towels. Reinstall the pads. Check if the issue is resolved.
12) If the printer displays error E4, replace the ink cartridges.
13) Reset the print system if the issue persists.

This error means that the printer is not able to connect properly to the cartridge's chip!
Inspect the cartridge, every cartridge have a chip,
Clean it with isopropyl alcohol, or normal alcohol (But it needs more time to dry)
Clean the printer contacts that connects to the chip on the cartridge with isopropyl alcohol.
Reinsert the cartridge into the printer
and see if something change.
Is the problem still remain, probably the cartridge have a bad quality chip.

Sometimes what causes the problem is the black cartridge guide on the inside rear of the machine. It comes loose and so when you put your cartridge in it does not line up with the contacts properly. The parts cannot be ordered seperately. It comes with the whole rear assembly. The part # for it is HM1-0244
