The Scanner's "Copy" program does not open

Here's the deal... I just purchased a HP Deskjet 6940 printer. It works fine. I have the Windows XP and the new printer saved as my default printer.
When I click on the Canoscan 3000ex "Copy" in the toolbox, the toolbox screen closes down. I cannot get the "Copy" field to materialize so I can set my new printer as the default printer. Apparently the Canoscan 3000ex for some reason doesn't recognize the new printer. I can scan a document and save to a pdf file and then print from that file after saving but I cannot copy a document... help!!!!!! I really like the the copy feature on the scanner.
I tried uninstalling and re-installed the CD rom for the Canon but to no avail. Eddie B.

HP Deskjet 6940 Connection Issues

i am not sure of the steps which you have follwed till now,

just try performing the steps below..:

click on start
click on run
type msconfig and click on OK
click on start up tab
uncheck the HP related options from the list...
also check the option " hide all microsoft services"
apply ok..

if the issue persists, write back..

hi,the reason why it most probaly comes with that error is that the driver is not meant for windows 7,so go on line check hp site, printer drivers and download.

Have a hp f380 all in one deskjet printer with M/S Vista OS

Hi,

Ofcourse, if there is any software or patch, there will be free on the HP website. However, as you have mentioned, that you are able to print, that shows that the printing software is working fine, to test the scanning part, please confirm that you are able to make a copy or not from the front panel of the printer by placing a text document on the scanner bed, close the scanner lid and then press color copy. If you are able to make a copy fine, that shows that the printer functionality is working fine.

The issue could be with the communication or with the scanning software. To check the communication between the printer and the computer, perform the following steps on the Windows XP computer or Vista computer, be sure that the printer should be connected directly to the computer via USB cable at the back side of the tower without any USB HUB, as you are using a Deksjet F380, it is a USB connectivity printer.

XP:
Follow the below steps to Scan using WIA (Windows Image acquisition)

1.Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.
2.Click Start then Click All Programs then Click Accessories then Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.
3.Follow the Scanner and Camera Wizard instructions to scan images to the computer.

Vista:
1. Press Windows logo and R on the keyboard*.
It will open a small run dialog box at the bottom left corner of the screen.
2. In the Run box type WIAACMGR and press enter.
3. Follow the onscreen insturctions and complete the scanning.

If you are able to scan fine using the above steps, then it shows that there is a communnication between the printer and the computer.

Please get back to me with the exact error message you are receiving when you try to scan from the computer, as to scan from the printer you should be able to scan fine from the computer (i.e., From HP Solution Center/ HP Director). So that I can assist you in much better way.

No default printer???

Try re-installing Paint Shop Pro V8. You will have to uninstall it first. Because that is the way I have found that it reloads the program correctly. I have just had this problem today with my copy. I hope this works for you.

U can download the compatible software from HP.COM
choose "Software & Driver Downloads" and enter the product model # and select the correct O/S..
Download the Software first instead of straight away installing it..
